    Day 69

I have pushed myself a bit further again today, we went out this morning and took the youngest two out down town.  I braved the barbers to get my hair cut figuring that it would be my last chance before starting the treatments (and then I would most likely not feel like it).  I felt a bit less self concious about being out and about today, not sure why.  Perhaps I am accepting the scars and the way I sound a little more.

It did wear me out a bit, not sure why, I ended up sitting in the car whilst the...

Allergies, Anaphylaxes and that sort of thing...

    Hallo again!

I'm one of those people who has lifelong problems with certain drugs and foods.  Mostly, my anaphylaxes (which is a severe form of allergy which is life-threatening therefore I have to avoid certain drugs) are fairly common; things like Penicillin and Elastoplast.  But, unfortunately for me, I'm also anaphylactically allergic to Beta-Lactems and Cephalosporins (both antibiotics which are vaguely related to the Penicillin family tree) as well as various other things.

    However...

    Moved

Last July me and mine moved from the home I'd been at for 16 years to a pretty little 'forever' home just out of town. The home had it all . . the only obvious drawback in these environmental times being storage heating and an open fire as opposed to nice clean controlable (2 ll's?)gas.

Our 2 year plan was to save and get central heating. In under 6 months cancer got us.

Not had chance to 'integrate' .

Husband is half way through 4th chemo of oxaliplatin and capec. Today...

    Check in
    Hi folks

Well not been posting for a few days. I have been feeling very good this week no sickness at all, no fatigue, pretty much back to normal. I have spent the week Woking away in the garden, and taking he dogs for long walks, 2hours at a time, much to there distress.

I still have a week and a bit until the next chemo, feeling as good as I do makes me feel like a fake sometimes, especially as I'm not working at docs insistence.

I know Lou was doing her second set of chemo, i...

  • After he has gone.......
    Almost 10 weeks
I went to my first counselling session yesterday. I did think I was referred too early by my GP and so did the counsellor. It was nice to find out that I am completely normal and still in the very first stages of shock after Doug's death. One thing that did help was her likening my topsy turvey world to having fallen off the top of a hill, a very nice hill where Doug and I were together, into a dark deep valley on my own. What I will do in time is start to climb the hill, not the same hill but a...

hi my names Isabel, i am 66,and last july i was diagnosed with oral cancer, there was a large tumour in the floor of my mouth, which i later found out had spread quickly to my tongue, and around my jaw.

I was under a fantastic surgeon at the UCH in Euston, after numerous tests, exams, ultrasounds, mri, and a million and one other tests, throughout i was terrified, it was decided that i would undergo three rounds of a trial chemotherapy, then major surgery, and a large amount of radiotherapy. The date...

    Day 67

I still don't understand what some people expect you know.  You see lots of people with problems - hell maybe you read my diary and think to yourself - poor guy, I'm glad I'm not him! - well don't.  There are times when I feel sorry for myself, you always try to remain positive about things, but cancer is a horrible and scary thing.  The operation and post operative consequences of having 70% of your tongue removed are horrible.  You know what?  Don't feel sorry for me.  I really don...

    Posh afternoon tea giggles...

We went for afternoon tea on Sunday....at a very posh manor house near us. It was something neither me, dad or my hubby had done before and since mum & dad had a voucher for afternoon tea, me and Marc decided to go with them and be posh for the afternoon :)

Dad has had a bit of pain since Friday evening...sort of like a sharp twinge in his side. He played it down when he told me about it....and as usual tried to reassure ME and told me "Don't you worry love"...i know i'm his little girl...
