    My next meltdown
Having spent the weekend letting what I’d learnt from the consultation sink in and armed with a list of questions, I rang the Urology nurse on Monday morning and left a message on the answerphone for them to ring me. Luckily the nurse that rang...

    Phesgo Injection
With chemo complete I now move onto the next stage, 12 cycles of Phesgo, given by subcutaneous (I had to look that up in Mr Google) injection.  Isn't it funny, in former times I'd have said I had to look it up in the dictionary, now I re...

    Consultation Day - Part 2
A very delayed update I’m afraid. This rollercoaster certainly sweeps you up and barely gives you time to catch your breath before plunging you to the depths again. Anyway, my daughter and I headed off to the consultation armed with a face...

    Another melanoma after 13 years

Diagnosed purely by fate ,the death of my sister's husband 13 years ago , triggered panic and sadness, he died from a melanoma . It was shocking .

Scanning ,in secret as not to upset my sister ,J checked my fair ,sun affected skin.

I looked for certain warning signs in moles ,marks ,freckles ..

There it was .tiny ,like a pen dot .with signs that I would...

    #10 Lockdown's Silver Linings
Cancer in the Covid era will undoubtedly be a slightly different experience. In some ways it makes it a much lonelier journey, yet that also means it can at times be much more peaceful than might otherwise have been the case. Some of us decide to kee...

“With hope in our hearts and wings in our heels” – Linda’s story

Linda is smiling in a green Macmillan t shirt and wearing a medal for running.

Linda, known as  here on the site, posted in the “Breast cancer” group about how running has helped her through her experiences with cancer treatment and body confidence. We wanted to share her story here on Community News. In today’s blog, Linda talks all about what the benefits of exercise during cancer treatment have been for her personally.

I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer just before Christmas, I am 52 years old and I must admit it came as a complete shock. I started...

    Surgery tomorrow
So my lumpectomy has been brought forward from the 10/8 to the 2/8, so although I welcomed this news with open arms it meant I had to get things sorted ASAP, both medically and at home. I had to go for a procedure to insert a Magseed which aids the s...
