  • The page in the book I never wanted to read.....
    A strange old day!
My morning started off pretty much the same as it has for the past week. I wake about 6.30 thinking s*** it isn't a dream and it's still very real. I have cancer. What a nasty thing to even exist in the world. A quick google of any aches and pains I have, quick check of this site and then the email in the hope of that email telling me I've won big on the lottery. Can pay for all this to be done swiftly and receive the best treatment available. Kids dressed and off to school. I can feel...

    The page of nightmares
Op date finally arrives. Life can get back to normal. I can become a mum and lover yet again after being drugged up on pain killers and stuck in bed for months. Very successful op! Tumour removed weighed in at just under 2 stone. Recovery going well. I can move, I am pain free at long last! The the phone rings.......your consultant wants to see you.... The biopsy is back and shows cancer. The surgeon very confident that he got it all, no other cancer showing. I smiled and thanked...

    Push your GP!

I have been going to my GP for over a year - actually closer to 18 months or more - with exhaustion, diarrhoea, blood in my stools, forgetfulness and inability to concentrate, breathlessness on exertion, abdominal pain.

He seemed unable to put the clues together.

The diarrhoea was due to my diabetes tablets, the bleeding was due to my IBS (although he did check for piles with a proctoscope), the exhaustion and breathlessness were because I needed to lose weight. The forgetfulness was just lack...

Dad No longer in pain - 18/01/12

    Hi all,

My Dad sadly lost his fight with cancer. Sadly a funny word as he was in so much pain it's a relief he doesn't have to fight that now but still so sad he's so young and we all miss him terribly. have found it hard to write anything as I haven't really come to terms with it all yet.

On that day 18/01/12, the day after my Mums Birthday (Dad and Mum divorced 25 years ago) I felt very run down and poorly and we were told as he's young he could be fighting for days so rested...

  • Finding the joy to keep fighting
    Overcoming post surgery boredom!

After a steroid-fuelled weekend and a day of post-steroid craziness I’m ready for my second blog, very exciting! (Is it just me or does anyone else get weird post-steroid “sensorial hallucinations”? – yesterday it felt like I was being crushed by gigantic rocks!)

When I was first diagnosed, everything turned into a bit of a whirlwind as it all started with emergency surgery and I didn’t have any time to prepare for what was coming.  However, two and a half months later...

  • Where have you been?
Enjoy! I have been in many places, but I've never been in Cahoots..  Apparently,  you can't go alone. You have to be in Cahoots with someone.   I've never been in Cognito. I hear no one recognises you there I have, however, been in Sane. They don't have an airport; you have to  be driven there. I have made several trips there, thanks to my friends, family and work. I live close so it's a short drive.   I would like to go to Conclusions, but you have to jump, and I'm not  too much on physical...
