    Dads cancer is back

I'm sorry but the cancer is back and there is nothing more we can do, are the words no one wants to hear. Dad had been struggling to swallow again over the xmas, only had his peg removed that September and seemed to be recovering well from tongue cancer which had spread to the lymph nodes, but after choking on everything he ate he was booked in to investigate why after the new year. The day before dad took ill, a hernia he had had for years had strangulated, and was rushed down for emergency surgery...

Secondary breast cancer with bone, liver and brain mets

    Hi all,

So my mum was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer with bone and liver mets back in The end of January! She has just finished her third cycle of capecitabine and had paid for a private trial to have her DNA tested in California! On tuesday last week she was due to get her results! After presenting herself on the Tuesday to her oncologist he admitted her straight away with SEVERE dehydration when he was talking to her she wasn’t coherent so he decided to do a brain scan! Yesterday we...

    060318 - Post-op chemo Final Round

Well that's chemo finished, hopefully. Nothing special to report other than the usual fatigue.

I was expecting to have a CT scan in three weeks time so was disappointed to be told by my oncologist that I will only have an ultrasound on my abdomen on 4th April and will have to wait until June for the CT scan. When I asked why he said that it was due to the risks from radiation!

I think that the worst part of having this disease is still to come! Until now everything moved fast and there...

    She made broken look beautiful

Today wasn't just a good day, it was an amazing day.

Cancer is noisy, it permeates every area of life, so rather than wrestle  with this, I'm embracing it and finding the blessings within.

I've longed for a piece of Kealey Farmer artwork for some time, we have very little art on our walls at home mainly because my husband and I can't agree on a piece we both like, but last year we found a piece we both agreed on, unfortunately it sold out as I dithered....I've done this a lot in the past...

  • 53 year old PSA 17 diagnosed with advanced prostrate cancer
    Nanonife prostrate

My second post 7th March 2018

So I was diagnosed jan this year and had a PSMA scan that showed that the cancer showed possible spread into seminal vesical area. My consultants advised radical surgery to remove prostrate and seminal vesicals. This came as a big shock as I had initially thought that it had remained confined.

Now in the PSMA report one word bothered me and that was possible invasion into seminal vesicular area. I contacted my gp and discussed this and we decided to ask for a...

    A few lines.......

Not much happening health wise but I’d thought I’d just write a few lines about what I’ve been up to.

Firstly I celebrated Beryl’s first birthday in February with a curry and a pub crawl with some ex-colleagues from the RNLI in Poole. A great weekend but totally exhausted.

And Beryl’s had another holiday. This time we went to Fuerteventura for a week. Absolute bliss. Left Stansted in the snow and landed in a comfortable 20c. I even managed to get sunburnt in mid-February....

Spot to op in 4 weeks!

At the end of Oct 2016 I found a tiny spot above my top lip which started to grow very quickly. This is what it looked like after two weeks.

Oncologist appointment: First "follow-up" and ordering breakfast

Last Thursday (1 March) I had the joy of a 07:15 physio appointment re mild lymphoedema (neck) which resulted in them saying it's virtually nothing so actually I can just pop in for occasional reviews. Result. Frankly I wasn't going to be wearing the bizarre head and neck harness at night. Tried it and it was an utter mare...I looked like Marley's Ghost! My wife called it a "head bra"..enough said.

After the physio appointment, I indulged in a coffee and a croissant before I...

    Stockholm Syndrome...

    Stockholm Syndrome…

For the last three and a half years, I have often felt like I’ve watched someone else live my life. Like I’ve been a passenger in the car and just went along for the ride. People say ‘Where do you see yourself in five years?’ I lived from appointment to appointment so how am I supposed to imagine myself in five weeks never mind five years?

Now its like I’ve woken up, I’m the driver of the car and I’m on a road I’ve never bene down before. I can’t...

    The letter

Looking radiant and tanned after my visit to Florida with my children , Christopher and Sara .

I had to go for a routine mammogram. The same day we got back .

Jet lagged but full of confidence I drove to East Surrey Hospital .

No worries, no idea and in denial I went to guilford after I was called back with my daughter.

All too slow in my memory . The call  for another mammogram, the time I was sitting in front of the consultant , the ultrasound, th biopsy and all the hint I...
