    Still here

When I was first diagnosed I was in a kind of shock. I am most grateful to the people who talked to me at that time (November / December 2010). things looked extremely grim at that time.

Since then I have (fingers crossed) made pretty much a full recovery

I had radical prostate op at Queen Alexandra Portsmouth in Mar 11. Margins were clear although it was a close run thing as the cancer had reached surface of prostate in one place. I then had a 6 week course of radiotherapy from May to July 2011...

    Cancer...cancer and more cancer!!!

As I sit here just after a 4pm with a cold glass of wine....I wonder what the hell I'm doing! Drinking at this time of day isn't something I often do but I really feel like I need the edge taken off my emotions at the moment....somewhere to escape to, just for a little while!
I've just come home after being with a very special friend for the past couple of days and I feel emotionally exhausted. She has breast cancer and has just had her first 'dose' of FEC and has been very poorly. She...

  • I'm having an Eeyore day.
Any hugs gratefully recieved thanks x

I'm pretty much in a good place in my head regarding my cancer and where I am up to on that so called journey. Then my Onc. appointment appears on the calendar for February and the little doubts and niggles start in my head grrrrrr.

When I was diagnosed I asked straight for a statistic for survival, 60%. I'd rather it been a bit more but at least it was the upper side of 50 eh, so not complaining.

Mr tumour was a T3N2M0 and again i'd rather it been below the 3 and not too happy with the...

    A wobbly Wednesday

Need a self indulgent moan today – this is more to get it out of me than have replies / kick the cat / moan at hubbie by the way. Well Mum will get her results in a week’s time and I having a wobble. Think it has been kicked off by chatting to another mum at school who’s a nurse (fatal talking to someone with medical knowledge at times).

Anyway I am just hoping things will be fine. Planning on taking my boys up to see her afterwards (thankfully all coincided with half term)...

    Tuesday 31st Jan 2012

Hello, I received my first dose of GemCarbo today and I'm feeling a little off but too bad, I'm just wondering if anyone has had or is having this treatment at present and how has it or is it affecting them??

    The potted history

Hello - I am new to this. I need a "safe" place to put some structure and sense to my feelings and thoughts and I ended up here. My Mum was diagnosed with small lymphocytic lymphoma in August 2009. They (as in the medical folks she saw) had thought it was a bad cold, overactive glands, pneumonia and finally Swine Flu (that was whilst in France) and then it was finally diagnosed as cancer. It did not come as a total surprise as there was some nagging thought at the back of my head and I took some...

    some good news

    Hi All,

Just to let you know the lates - our christmas cruise was not quite as good as I had expected, and I ended up confined to the cabin for 72 hours with a tummy bug!  I did manage Christmas day and New Year's Eve, but the bit in the middle disappeared.  We got home and within 6 hours my husband got the bug as well, but worse than I was.  Spent the next 2 nights in the spare room so I didn't catch it again.

I dutifully had my Ct scan 3 weeks ago, and arrived at the hospital today to find...

    Mad Mandy's happy Monday!
Left the house at 7-30 this morning...urgh was hard work I can tell you, probably because I'd had 1 extra brandy ( bad influences on this site..!!) Sainsburys first port of call to do mums shopping and I must say, it was bliss scooting round without it being packed with screaming kiddies, why are they allowed to scream? But then again it could be me that makes them scream when I pull faces at them!? Off to post office to collect the oldies pensions, had a lovely chat with the postmistress who...
