    Life without dad

It's been nearly 2 months since dad died. Now I can sit back and look at all that has happened. I can only describe watching someone you love with terminal cancer, die before you, as a hurricane hitting the house with everyone inside. We could see it coming but boy, it knocked us off our feet.

We clung on to each other scared, terrified, afraid at this monster that raged past us, destroying everything that was safe and secure. There were moments of calm. When we could talk even laugh and joke...

Silent tears , lonely & scared
Not been on here for a while but today felt like I needed a bit of an outlet. Since last coming on one of the ladies who used to blog on here who also had cervical cancer has passed away in July. You may know her she blogged under 'Miss Nutter' her maiden name. Kathy also became a 'virtual' friend and we text each other and kept up to date. The news although not completely unexpected came as a bit of shock and is so sad. I am currently going through chemo for mets and know that I too cannot...

  • Not in control!!!!!!!!
    Day 1

No news today but let's take a step back.

Last Monday my husband had a colonoscopy. We were ushered into a tiny room with not enough chairs and no windows to be told a polyp had been found at it was 'significant'. The next step they said was a CT scan in the next 10 days then the case would be discussed by the Multi Disciplinary Team on the Monday following the CT scan. On the same day I was told my mother has a nodule on her right lung.

The following day an appointment arrived by ta...

    Falling Between Stools!!.

Before I go too far I first want to point out the excellent and speedy treatment I received once diagnosed with bowel cancer just before Christmas 2011. I Started my Chemo and Radio therapy in January 2021, and was operated on, on the 29th May 2012 ( bad timing in that it meant I spent the Jubilee Weekend stuck in hospital.) I my rectum removed and was fitted with a stoma.

Following my discharge I was visited once a week by the Stoma Nurse and every second day by the Local District Nurse(s...

Chemo No. 4 Hopefully the last one !!!

Hi all, Had my 4th and hopefully last Chemo. on Friday 10th. Everything was ok until last Monday (13th) then all the side effects kick in for about 5 days. The tiredness was the worst this time probably due to having had 4 doses of chemo. I have an infection in my arm again probably due to the many blood tests, canula's etc.. Almost finished antibiotics but it has not cleared up yet so going back to Doctor today. We went away to Dream time house on Friday thanks to Gill & Ellie letting us have use...

How can we get it right for our loved one.

Not sure if I have got this right, but am trying.

It is so difficult to know if you aredoing the right thing.

Have been reading some of the blogs posts etc,it just helps a bit knowing that other people are unfortunately going through the same thing.

  • My Cancer Fight
    Day 1

Today, Monday 20th August 2012, I was diagnosed with vulval cancer.  I was absolutely shocked by the news and its still not sunk in; I feel numb, then I cry, then make jokes about having new lady bits being given to me, then cry again.

I'm due to see a plastic surgeon on Wednesday 22nd August and I will have surgery on the 6th September.  That doesn't scare me so much but having the MRI scan to ascertain if the cancer has spread does.  I'm hoping and praying the cancer has been caught in time...

  • Mums Nuroendocrine Jouney!
    Good days :)

Mum is feeling great! she says that she feels no different to how she felt 6 months ago, in fact probably better now she has lost some weight ( was 3 stone overweight) she has energy, and is eating well.

She seems to have got to grips with trying to be careful with what she eats so not to give herself bad bowels. And she said today since she has started the cooking, and not my dad, the tummy pains and bad bowels have slowed right up! So I am clinging onto this being a good thing?

    She is popping...

    settling in

Depression is starting to rer its ugly head in a noticable way.  I find I'm quite detached from the family in general, despite being with them 24/7.  Everything irritates me.  I don't want to go anywhere or get anything done.  I'm eating like I don't know what.  I want to cry but I feel like I'm too numb/exasperated to cry.  More like I want to scream my lungs out, then go hide under a rock for the next millenia.  I hate to admit it, but sometimes I have the very real desire to bite...

  • An update from June.....
    My latest news..........
It seems a long time since I posted on here.....but looking back it was directly after I had a drain at the beginning of treatment no 6. Four sessions later and my count has not gone down, and yesterday I had another 5.5 litres drained! Meanwhile we have been away 3 times in the new motorhome and I had my trip to Buckingham palace with most of my granddaughters, the ( the youngest living in Los Angeles and only being a year old didn't really miss a lot.). But... America are coming at last and...
