  • Who's supporting my mum?
    What support can be expected?

My mum is diagnosed with cancer in her lungs & groin, that was two years ago.  She has been treated by Christies but has now been told that there is nothing more they can do for her.

Since being discharged from the hospital she has had little or no contact from services, including Macmillan nurses.  In the past she has been given equipment from social services & the hospital to help her around the home.  She has had a telephone call from the Macmillan nurse but has never seen her (Maybe once...

    I lost my sweet husband.

    Hi All,

My lovely husband died on Wednesday. I miss him so much. I am finding it hard to cope. I was with him and I was so blessed to be there holding his hand. I held his hand for over two hours after he went. It was so hard to let go.

  • Confused: Biopsy Results
    So...

Had the common Symptoms of Lymphoma since the end of July... Fatigue, weight loss, night sweats and numerous lymph nodes in my neck raised and growing rapidly in size so that they are now very noticeable.

I went to the doctors when I first noticed them and he told me it was most certainly an infection and that they will decrease in size in about a week or so.

After two/three weeks (I cant remember exactly) I went back as they hadnt decreased in size at they had infact increased a lot.

    He then...

D Day tomorrow ...ups and downs and wings and roundabouts
Good news...My downs are ups: in typical British style I've treated myself and bought a pretty new bra from Gilly Hicks. Now I will look all flowery and pert (if the straps behave themselves), for my dishabillier (phonetic) tomorrow.. Swings and roundabouts: Ugh. Tomorrow. No matter what I do, in the back of my mind I am fretting and feeling mildly nauseous. Like a niggling toothache it flares up and whams you back into no man's land. Then I am reminded that nothing good comes of worrying...

  • Dad

All started about March time with dad not feeling well. Now got to the stage of finding out end of Aug that he has terminal Pancreatic cancer, 4weeks ago he decided not to have chemo as didnt want the extra side affects. So were told that the time he had left was around 3-6months or up to 10. Hes just had a week in hospital because they think hes had an internal bleed. Not knowing who, what or where I am at the mo. Sooooooo not looking 4ward to whats ahead :(

  • My cancer journey
    My journey begins

A few weeks ago I was diagnosed with T2 Squamous Cell Carcinoma, or Mouth Cancer as its more commonly known – specifically on the left side of my tongue.

The choice method of saving my life and removing the tumour is to perform a radical neck dissection to remove my lymph nodes in the left side of my neck. Along with this I will be having a partial glossectomy (The removal of about half my visible tongue) and have a stoma fitted so I can breathe whilst my throat etc heals.

    Sufficed to say I...

    Approaching 3rd chemo
My third chemo is due in 4 days, really hope it's not delayed again but as I'm still battling this cold I'm fully expecting it to be put back again :( Had awful news last Wednesday that my father in law's oral cancer has spread all over his skull and his consultant has advised his he has 3 months. He's been through such a lot, massive 11hr last November, skin and bone grafts, radiotherapy and recovered well or so we thought until he began to have a lot of pain... This is why. I'm absolutely devastated...
