    TSA Humiliates Bladder Cancer Survivor

Tom Sawyer A bladder cancer survivor from Michigan who wears a bag that collects his urine says he was patted down roughly by a security agent at Detroit Metropolitan Airport, causing the lid on the bag to spill its contents on his clothing. Sawyer is one of the members of the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network. He has received many emails from fellow survivors who also have concerns about the new security measures taking place at airports and appreciate that he came forward to tell his story.

  • I never expected that
    Some better days

The past few days have been really good. Finally, I seemed to get over the side effects of the Oxaliplatin (apart from a teensy bit of sensitivity in one arm), and the nausea from Capecitibine has also gone. I'm not even having to take the anti-sickness medication at the moment.

I had been beginning to feel as though I'd only have a few 'normal' days in each three week cycle but since Friday I've been pretty much my usual self and the week off medication doesn't actually start until tomorrow...

    My dilemma

Hi... I am new to this and have always shied away from support groups in the past but I thought I would try something new.

My biography contains details of my diagnosis of secondary breast cancer.  Where I am at the moment is trying to decide whether to start what would be my 5th type of chemotherapy despite my oncologist saying it would have a slim chance of working.  I have also had 2 applications to the Interim Cancer Drugs Funds refused for the drug Lapatinib.

I am feeling relatively well at the...

    Bladder Cancer

Although there are several types of bladder cancer, we usually think every time we hear or read this term transitional cell carcinomas. Are cancers that form inside the cells that form the lining of the bladder. One other cancers that come under this heading are squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma. The latter, unlike the first, generally the result of some form of chronic irritation and inflammation.

Warning signs of possible bladder cancer are things like blood in the urine, painful...

    My Lovely Wife Julie 3

6/2/11 - Three Radio cycles finished, Two to go.

Today there are definate signs of improvement.  Julie managed to walk the 20 yards to the bathroom with her sticks and I helped her shower, dress and walk back to her bed.  Neither of us expected the Radio to take effect so soon, or is the combination of Nozinan and Steroids supressing the sympoms that are allowing her to walk ?

The ward staff are turning a blind eye to me arriving early for visiting and we have arranged an out patient visit for Tusday...

    A slow process!

We found out in September that Pat's cancer had spread into his lymph system, 2 scans later we were told it's in his liver and lung, 3 scans later we are still waiting to find out details of any treatment!  It's such a slow process.  Now he's scheduled for a liver biopsy on Wednesday to give the oncologist more info about the extent of the cancer before he decides on a treatment.  In the meantime he's had weeks of bad left shoulder pain which we have been told may be referred pain....
