    Scared
Have had an awful week but feeling a little better today. John has been crying a great deal and was talking about dying and how scared he is - heartbreaking to see him like that as he is a very positive person. Chemo sickness getting him down as he seems to have it all the time now however it is John's sixth and last cycle next week so he is going in to a specialist unit on Monday for treatment to bring the side effects under control so that he can start to feel better again. We are staying strong...

    The start of our journey...
As I sit and write this, my husband is in Mr Fixit mood - he's busying himself around the house, putting up pictures, changing old batteries, watering the plants. He looks wonderful - you would never in the world know or think that he has just been diagnosed with locally advanced bladder cancer. He went to the Dr's because he had a gallstone attack. They did a scan, did a urine test and lo and behold, forget the gallstones (which are there), he has cancer. The cancer has already broken through the...

I was diagnosed with stage 1 womb cancer 3 years ago. I had a radical hysterectomy but was very fortunate as i did not need to have either radio or chemotherapy. However i did not have any children at the time and have struggled with this ever since. I have moved on with life as much as i can, i have been promoted in work, carried on being an aunty to 1 beautiful niece and 2 handsomemy nephews and they mean everything to me. i have a huge support network of caring and loving family and friends...

    My results and son's op
Well, what a bloody day yesterday was! My son went into hospital to have his pre-op IV meds. Left him unpacking and sorting himself out (my laptop to play football manager game on) portable DVD player and assorted DVDs, magazines, etc, and we went downstairs to Oncology clinic to find out the result of last week's PET scan. Been plagued with pains in my hip for the past 6 weeks or so, which as you know, always plays havoc with your mind - but my tumours have shrunk! The Temozolomide has done it's...

    Chrondosarcoma
Hi Everyone Just to let you know I had my op 2 weeks ago for the removal of the tumour attached to my corited and jugular artery. I have had a hariy time of it. The op should have been for 4 hours and ended up 8 1/2. The docs harvested some fat from my stomach to pack into the hole in my skull, whilst in recovery I developed a bool clot. A decision had to make where it was, my head or my stomach. My bllod pressure was sky high, the doc decided to go for the stomach and thank goodness that was...

    Scared
Not sure what to put really, only second time i'll have done this. My husband got the all clear from his stage 3 melanoma at the end of April and we were so happy, but the last few weeks he hasn't been feeling well, low blood pressure, very dizzy all the time and headaches and at times not able to do anything other than lay on the sofa, which can last for a few days. He got in touch with his CNS who made him an appt with his oncologist. They're sending him for a CT Scan which is next Tuesday (30th...

Getting ready for the second innings
I'm delighted to say that the last 3 weeks have been a bit up and down but nothing unbearable.... I had a follow up appointment today to have my blood checked. The results were good so I'm good to go for my second treatment on Monday. The only blot on this otherwise somewhat boring landscape is that I asked them to use the port to take my blood to make sure it was working for Monday..... and it didn’t! Despite the port being easy to feel now the swelling has gone down (although it is still...

    Octreotide Treatment for Thymoma
I was diagnosed with inoperable invasive thymoma (Stage III C) in October 2007, and underwent 6 rounds of chemo which shrank the tumour by about a quarter. Unfortunately my latest scan in June showed that it is growing again. My consultant has arranged for me to have an octreotide scan, to see if we could use this therapy to control the thymoma from here. I will be getting the results next week. I know absolutely nothing about this treatment and wondered whether anyone has any experience they might...

I should learn to read forms properly
We got the forms through today to apply for disability living allowance. It will take a week to fill it in. while I was going through drawers though I came across a form that our GP had given me when Ian was in ITU. I didn't know what it was for and was in too much of a state at the time to find out. Looked at it properly today. It was a DS 1500! that was 3 years ago. Do you think it will be still usable LOL
