Getting ready for the second innings

1 minute read time.
I'm delighted to say that the last 3 weeks have been a bit up and down but nothing unbearable.... I had a follow up appointment today to have my blood checked. The results were good so I'm good to go for my second treatment on Monday. The only blot on this otherwise somewhat boring landscape is that I asked them to use the port to take my blood to make sure it was working for Monday..... and it didn’t! Despite the port being easy to feel now the swelling has gone down (although it is still a bit sore), and despite the nurse being able to feel the needle hitting the back plate.... they think that needle length be an issue. They are going to try to get one 1.5 inches long to try... not something I am looking forward to !!!!! I guess the alternative might be another op to sort out whatever the 'real' issue is... so hopefully long needles will do the trick - after all what is a mere inch and a half between friends... ??? So... if the longer needle has not come in by Monday (and I'll be amazed if it has) then I suspect I’ll become a human pin cushion again for the morning (today they managed to take my blood from a little vein they found on/by my index finger knuckle - it was an ouch moment !) Hope you all have a good weekend (despite the weather being on the turn). Noj x

    Hi Noj

Glad your bloods were good, amazing how much rubbish out bodies can deal with.  Sorry about the port, must admit mine was tender more than sore for a while, but I didn't have a problem with needle - well apart from that steeling yourself "sharp scratch, oh its done" moment.  I seem to recall the needle my nurse used was a small one about an inch if that with a plastic end and a tube.  I neer had my blood taken from it as the vien in my arm generally behaved itself, she did draw fluid to make sure it was ok - but come cycle 8 it didn't but she said that sometimes happens.

I really hope they get it sorted for you, you have enough to deal with.

    Take care

    Carol xx
