My results and son's op

1 minute read time.
Well, what a bloody day yesterday was! My son went into hospital to have his pre-op IV meds. Left him unpacking and sorting himself out (my laptop to play football manager game on) portable DVD player and assorted DVDs, magazines, etc, and we went downstairs to Oncology clinic to find out the result of last week's PET scan. Been plagued with pains in my hip for the past 6 weeks or so, which as you know, always plays havoc with your mind - but my tumours have shrunk! The Temozolomide has done it's business! They're not gone completely, and they never will - but 2 of my liver lesions are now only visible to PET scan, can't see them on a CT scan, likewise the one in my lymph node. The area around my left kidney where I had the primary tumour and adrenal gland removed is completely clear (The surgeon at King's did a good job) and the area in my pelvic bone, although showing some cells, has 'decreased activity'. Only fly in the ointment, which we didn't realise, was that I won't be able to have that same chemo drug again. I sort of thought that if it shrunk things, I'd be able to have another go when they grew back again. But apparently not. Seeing my Prof of Endocrinology on Monday, so will ask him more, but really pleased at result. It's slow-growing, so hopefully buys me quite a bit of time. Now if I can just gather my strength again to face Monday, the day of my son's operation...........

Glad to hear tumours have shrunk,  long may they stay that way x x   If and when they grow then hopefully oncologist will have another trick up his sleeve.  Good luck to your son for his forthcoming op. x x
