be careful of the old people
A tour bus driver is driving with a bus load of seniors down a highway when he is tapped on his shoulder by a little old lady. She offers him a handful of peanuts, which he gratefully munches up. After about 15 minutes, she taps him on his shoulder again and she hands him another handful of peanuts. She repeats this gesture about five more times. When she is about to hand him another batch again he asks the little old lady, 'Why don't you eat the peanuts yourself?'. 'We can't chew them...

How much suffering do you have to watch?
Mum got told that the cancer was now in her liver last Thursday. She came out of hospital, well my dad absconded with her on the Friday as he was disgusted at how she was being cared for and on the Monday mum was in high spirits, dressed and very talkative. The best she had been in months. As the days have gone on, all 7 of them, she has deteriorated with a speed I was not prepared for. Today she can no longer eat solids, she cried yesterday as my dad gave her her dinner as she could not face...

    Bags packed
Well. Jimjams are packed and i've updated ian's I pod for him. I just have to take the fuse out of his feeding pump so he's not tempted to snack after midnight (just kidding!). This time tomorrow he'll have been 'investigated' and should be home again. He looks better today than he has looked for weeks and although I am a quivering wreck, I am feeling quite positive. I have had it in my head that the cancer has come back and have been feeling really sensitive lately, but I have managed to convince...

    Hubbys brain tumour
This is the first time Ive used this site. My husband has a oligodendroglioma which was removed in January, they think they got it all out but not sure he's due scans every 4 months. He's 29 and we've read that this type often comes back? Does anyone have any idea or know anyone with this type? The doctors said it was grade 2, we dont know any other information. We are both finding it hard we have two small kids and the not knowing what to expect is the worst bit. We dont want to be optimistic if...

I am not going to get well
I have come to a realization (latent and out of denial/hope) that my cancer cannot be cured. Somehow I thought that my care team could make me all better. Why not? They make me feel better every time I have to see them. But now I know that I will never get better. How sad for me and everyone like me. How sad to know there is very little hope of a cure. My only hope is that I live longer than I think I have and not feel too badly about all of life that I miss out on and will miss out on. I...

Has Cancer / Chemo affected anybodies tolerance levels and made them more selfish than before?
I'm 32, I had testiciular cancer and 3 courses of chemo at the age of 30. Since having cancer my personality has changed. I am less tolerant of things. I am a lot more happy to do things for me... I used to put my wife and kids first (not exercise and golf!). I'd like things to go back to the way they were (and I know my wife would!). Am I alone in this and should I just 'get over it? Do I need some councelling to help? Should I not just be grateful to be alive? Does anybody else feel this...

    Last chemo cycle
John had last chemo cycle yesterday and is not feeling well today. Fortunately, though, he is now in the care of the wonderful staff at Sue Ryder based at Thorpe Hall in Peterborough as the side effects of his teatment have been getting worse and he is really suffering. John has gone there for treatment to alleviate these and get him back on track - all he wants to do is stop being sick so that he can eat a full English and a roast dinner, is that so much to ask??!!! We are all keeping our fingers...
