Well, hello evryone. This is my first time on here so excuse if it isn't very interesting. My mum has recently just had a bowel cancer op to remove the cancer. All is looking good except all the worries and emotions that come with it. Never had cancer so close in the family so when it hits, it hits hard. So thought writing things down might help, and where better than a site where the readers understand and can relate, and hopefully share experiences so I can learn what to expect and how to deal...
Eventually I got my fourth round. Apparently my bloods still were a bit odd so they phoned the Consultant to check and she decided she wanted to see me before she made a decision.
So after arriving on the ward at 11a.m. I had to wait until after 6 when the consultant finished her clinic before she could see me. The upshot was I had an elevated kidney enzyme result which they were concerned about but as otherwise I was well they agreed to go ahead.
I got out at 11p.m.
I'm not complaining - clearly they...
Thank you all for the wonderful words. You brought me to tears x
My husband is having a stent fitted tomorrow as long as the oesophagus is narrow enough to hold it in place. It's bitter sweet as he really doesn't want one but the thought of the possibility of being able to eat something semi solid is so desirable.
The Marsden are moving quickly which is fantastic so he will be admitted tomorrow at 7am. We told the children what was happening in the morning and they reacted so differently...
Hi my name is Vikki and I am 38. I was diagnosed 1yr ago with stage 2 breast cancer. I had a double mastectomy and chemotherapy. I am now finding things hard to cope with and would like to speak to people who have come out the other end and how they delt with it as I dont know how to deal with the aftermath,
The story so far... (in brief!)
A couple of weeks ago my father - who is in his 90s - was diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma in the groin. Nothing else has shown up on CAT scans, but there's also a suspicion (due to severe anaemia that isn't being helped that much by a tranfusion) that something may also be in the bone marrow.
My parents have been offered three basic choices (paraphrasing via my mother); a chemotherapy regime, a radiotherapy regime, or essentially nothing. He...
My chemo failed again, I've had 4 different drugs and no shrinkage to my lung mets. I had v successful surgery on my liver and bowel 18 months ago but the lung mets are increasing. My oncologist has said- v nicely- that I shouldn't bother with any more drugs and should try to enjoy my life. That's a tall order with this hanging over me but I am trying. I just can't get my head around the fact that I won't be here. I am 63 but young at heart and have not had any illness , even having chemo for 15...
friday had been such a nice day!
my tummy had been gurgling and dancing all day, but no problem because im used to that. after avery nice tea it started doing a war dance and there were many volcanic rumblings coming thru my mouth. the rumblings turned into quakes and then into volcanic eruptions of the vomiting kind. after 4 hours of this and enduring acute pain i was 999'd to my hospital on their instructions. i got there at midnight and after morphine, xrays, examinations etc, i was finally...
Hello,
I have been reading many other blogs and have found it really helpful, so thought I would outline a bit about my situation to see if any others have had similar experiences that I can learn from, or if anyone is going through the same thing now.
I first had breast cancer back in 2004 when I was 38 and had a lumpectomy, removal of lymph nodes, followed by 7 months of chemo and then radiotherapy. A horrible experience, as it is for everyone, made bearable by family and friends.
Since then...
Dad came home today from Willen hospice. He was there for 3 weeks and didnt want to spend any more time away from mum so they put things in place for dad to come home. The docter said he just has weeks left. I suppose it dosent help if he hasnt eaten for 3 weeks but we cant force him as it would make him uncomfortable. Dad is a fighter and Im so proud of him. it would be the best thing in the world if dad could make it past christmas but ive been told that would be too far ahead. I can only pray...
