  • Why I am here
    PCV Chemo

I have just finished my first round of PCV Chemo.  Now on a 32 dayr est period before the next round.

I have found that I have had no effects from taking the tablets, even the tiredness was less..

PCV is taken from the names of the drugs used.  V is Vinscrine, which is given as a one off fluid infusion at the hospital.  After this you take three lomustine cpsules as a single dose. These are also known as CCNU, hence the C. These are followed by Procarbzine capsules (The P).  I was given 30 of these...

    Normality returns
    Hi

Well thankfully, I have returned to almost normal again. I still feel a bit weak, very slightly nauseaouse. But as today has progressed I have felt more like myself.

The only thing I'm finding, and I did slightly the last cycle also, is I get a bit down. Not about the CLL or chemo just a general thing maybe sad is a better description. Not sure if its anything to do with the treatment or maybe I'm just getting old and longing for youthful journeys.

    Taste and smell, now here...

    Day 60

Wow.  Day 60? Seems like a damned lifetime now, I'm not sure I can remember what it was like not to have the damned thing hanging over me now.  I certainly can't remember what its like not to have Cancer at the top of your list of things to worry about.

Its certainly put things into perspective, I guess. I don't get stressed about being late with the morning school run any more - what would be the point - I also don't really give a crap about money either.  I worry more about how my family...

  • The struggle of losing my mum
    It's hit me bad

First of all I would like to say a massive thank you to everybody who commented and helped me in my last blog post. I have been talking to a few of you and I appreciate so very much.

I visited my mums grave about 3 weeks ago by myself, this has always been very hard for me to do, but after not visiting for a while I start to crave my mum so much and feel like seeing her grave is the place where I can forget about the world and have a connected chat with her. However every time I've visit her, my...

    Day 59

Well today started badly, it bloody well chucked it down this morning. I awoke feeling very tired too, another night where I seemed to sleep in two halves - one from about 10-2am then another stretch from 3-6.  Unfortunately the second stretch seems to come in spurts of maybe 45 mins or an hour, I am constantly waking up it feels like.

The day improved though, I made contact with the private healthcare people and they finally have gotten everything they need to approve my claim for cancer treatment....

    Day 58

Its not a disease like MS or TB, not one with - strictly speaking anyway - an external cause. Cancer is your own body going mad, a simple error of DNA replication which causes uncontrolled cell growth and division.

This means, for most of us, cancer is personal in way that other illness isn't. We're each suffering...

If feel like I've done a major upper body session at the gym of something. Its not an unpleasant feeling, I do in fact feel a bit...

    Day 56

Once again I found myself needing a nap this afternoon, its not like I did that much, but there I was after lunch - flaked out on the sofa. I really would have thought that I'd be past this by now, but I really don't know why I get so tired. My only guess is diet - still - I think in am getting about two thousand calories...

It's surprising just how much time you spend thinking about cancer and chemo and radiotherapy - you try not to, but its there all the time eating away at you (possibly literally) and making you think about it.

The thing that got me today was, why the hell has my laugh changed? I don't laugh as I used to, its totally...

This is one of those times that I hate having this damned cancer, I’m not in control.  I do wonder if I am missing something from my diet – given the limited scope on the kinds of foods I can eat it wouldn’t...
