I just happened to notice that my last blog post was about how positive things were. This journey really is a rollarcoaster because as I sit here and write this post, I am fighting back the tears.
Things were going so well but the last two weeks have been absolute hell. It all begins on 19th August when mum, in an effort to try and get mobile after the hip replacement, went to stretch her legs in the kitchen with her crutches....and fell onto a cold tile floor. This was a matter of hours after...
My very dear childhood friend, Patty Gravatte, was just diagnosed with tonsil, throat, neck, and lymph node cancer.
Patty is a wonderful person who donates time to not only her family but also her community. She is a single mother who adopted a child of different skin color so that Patty could provide a loving and nuturing environment for her daughter.
Patty went into the hospital to have her tonsils removed. Subsequently, she was diagnosed with tonsil, throat, neck and lymph node cancer. She is...
Blackmail. Strong word that may upset some people if they read on.There's no sex or swearing in what I hope to write but many may disagree with my views.
I am angry and confused about doctors, nurses and patients. I was brought up to believe that doctors were supposed to be there for patients who felt ill and wanted help. Doctors were trained to know about illness and what treatments were available. No doctor could know it all so there were hospital specialists or consultants. Nurses were there...
I am in remission from melanoma and my husband is in remission from Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. We would love to go on a cruise next year but fear it will be too expensive as P & O insist on cover for pre existing conditions. Any advice would be very helpful.
Overnight I seemed to have made significant progress! Last night I went out for some drinks with a very close friend and we just reminisced and laughed the night away. I genuinely can't remember the last time I enjoyed myself like that and didn't come home wanting to go to go to sleep and never wake up again! To continue the good spirits, I've had a big fat smile on my face allllll day, whilst catching up with some friends.
Its silly to think I never thought I'd feel happy or be able...
Just like I knew I would, I regret posting that blog post yesterday. Reading it back I sound like such a petulant little child - I apologise to anyone who had the misfortune of stumbling across that and having to read it. I promise I am not normally like that! I swear!
It all came from the fact that alot of bad things have happened to me and my family in the past two months and it's making everything else, all the silly little things seem like big huge problems when they aren't. Some days I feel like...
What do I tell people I meet? This was a question I tried to answer when I first knew I had cancer plus mets in my bones. I had a huge temptation at first, to tell everyone and get sympathy. "Oh you poor thing, you're so brave". I could have expected that reaction, or could I? I decided not to test it out.
So my wife and I told our four children and said we were keeping it in the family for the moment. They were free to tell their spouses and children if they wished. They are sensible...
