  • I need to get it out
    One week done !!

It was lovely for the weekend to get away from all this "stuff" not that we had a quiet weekend. The bit I hated was when people ask you how you are getting on and you have to go over all the details. I skipped over them as I have to think about them in the week but wanted the weekend free of it all. I know they are being nice of course, but none of them, unless they have been here, will have the faintest inkling of what it's like.

  • Getting my head around it
    Being a carer too

I've used the same title to enter a discussion in the Prostate Cancer Group.  Although my last blog entry was upbeat I now have worries for the future of this home with my wife and myself struggling to cope in it.

My pain is better from the pelvic fracture, I can walk about the house with one crutch, not two, so I can carry things in the free hand.  But my wife is becoming much worse with joint pains and she sleeps a lot by day.  We are due to see her consultant tomorrow and I'm going along with...

Day 9 - Let The Battle Commence...

Another lovely day in Wiltshire but what an awful night's sleep.  Mouth was drier than a dry thing and tasted of a weathered and worn flip flop.  Needed to sip water constantly through the night and feel tired to say the least this morning.  I am hoping it is the Pepsi I drank for supper that caused this, but fear that the resumption of RT this week is the culprit....  Off to see my consultant today prior to RT#7, the only pain I have is the right shoulder (too much weightlifting the other day!!...

  • The good the bad and the ugly
Good stuff about cancer , bad stuuf about cancer

I have been lurking on these pages for quite some time and rarely posted ( well never posted correctly- not sure why I find it so confusing). Thanks to Dave the Brave for inspiring me to write.

I guess it would help if you knew alittle about me, other than my age. I am married and have no kids and work for a charity, . Almost every day I helped people to deal with difficult news and situations and my job defines almost everything about me.

In the last six months I have suprised myself almost daily...

Day 8 - The Guilt Trip...
So into week 2 of RT we go, and after a brilliant weekend am now feeling a bit guilty. Am guilty of having to take so much time off work and others having to cover my desk. I am guilty of not being that poorly compared to others around me in the hospital (some who look really ill), and the online head and neck cancer community whose emails and blogs that I have access to now I am part of the 'gang' have troubles beyond my worst nightmares, I feel sorry for posting how well I am feeling and fear what...

  • The man who changed my life.
    The final week.

As i look back over the last 4 weeks , i wonder where did the time go. Its not been easy and i dont expect the final week to be any different Ive more things to contend with , sore anus , itchy skin , constipation and the faf of having, the pump attached.

But it is the end , i know come this time next week i can relax and concentrate on getting myself back to old me.

What the week will bring i dont know , but with the drug out the way and also RT my body can recover from the onslaught of alien...

Day 7 - The Calm Before The Storm...
Just a short post today as Sunday is the day of rest. Had a really good day yesterday and great to see mam and dad. Appetite back now not feeling sick so fired four ham sandwiches down for lunch and the spare ribs at the pub for dinner in the evening, only water to wash it down though, and the BBQ spices didn't taste BBQ-ey at all. Watched a movie in the evening which was followed by a good nights sleep. Thoughts now turning to week 2 of treatment which starts tomorrow, and the thoughts of what...

Day 6 - That's The Way To Do It...
Hope readers appreciated the double take on yesterday's blog, at no extra charge!!! My chat with nutritionist yesterday may have revealed the cause of feeling sick. Apparently trying to flush my gastro tube with water quickly with syrlnge so as to feel the strange sensation of having a drink from the bottom up is not good 'tekkers'! Slowed it down before bed and lo and behold I didn't feel sick, best nights sleep for a while - until smoke alarm battery decided to die at 0730hrs, the warning beep...
