Stefon has invited those of us who read and enjoyed his blog about a walk in Oare Marshes to chip in with descriptions of our favourite walks. Well, this was music to my ears. I wrote last time of my desire to go and see the bluebells at my secret place, but I was a bit concerned that I don't at present have quite enough energy to get there and back. However, my husband (J) kindly offered to accompany me and to go and get the car when I felt I'd had enough. So today we set off. There was a...

At last we can get out in the garden and get some Sun.After a difficult few days dealing with pain control we have finally had a nice afternoon .This promted me to suggest some time away. I surprised myself because up until now I have found it so hard to plan anything.Does this mean I am excepting things slowly.. not sure!! 24/33 Monday 28 April 2014: Weight 74.5 kilos. A bit sluggish this morning, trying to get out of the house for 11.00, to arrive one hour before the 13.05 appointment. Needed a shower and shave but it all takes time. Slightly constipated. Needn’t have worried as one of the R/T machines had broken down and everything was 30 minutes behind. Because of this, I waited until I was told before starting to drink water. They only made me wait 35 minutes after drinking before calling me through, which was...
My husband has started erlotinib two weeks ago (diagnosis = NSCLC advanced stage, spread to lymph nodes, vertebra and two ribs + small tumour in brain). Whilst the cough has more or less disappeared, he has a rash on his whole head. He is also getting very tired and has acquired a bitter taste for many foods, which is making eating less palatable. Has anyone else experienced the change of taste? Is anyone on erlotinib happy to exchange their experience with us for mutual support?
Good news - liver tumour not seen on scan. Tumour in rectus muscle not mentioned on scan report (I still think I can feel it though).
Bad news - three little tumours in my right lung.
Appointment with oncologist. Three options. Do nothing (really??), referral to Dr Mark Middleton at Oxford to see if there are phase 1 trials - downside is that these are usually to determine tolerable doses and therefore could make me feel really ill, or referral to lung team to see if they would do ablation...
I'm pasting this from my profile as I don't want to type it all again, or go into detail of how I got to where I am.
I was diagnosed with bowel cancer in August 2007 when I was 45. I had chemo and radiotherapy (causing an early menopause) to shrink the tumour before it was removed in December 2007. I started chemo in Feb 2008. In January 2010 I was told I had a secondary tumour in each lung. One was removed in February and the other in March. I started chemo in June 2010. In December 2010...
