Day 2.....

Less than one minute read time.
So I had my op on Wednesday. Think it took about 9 hours, but apparently it went well, and all that was removed looked good. Spent first night in recovery which was noisy, but up on Gray Ward now. The team has just been to visit and they are going to get a few more tubes out and then get me in a chair apparently. Pain not too bad, swelling in mouth uncomfortable but bearable.

Hello again ... well all that's over now and the recovery starts, glad that it wasn't as bad as you perhaps thought and it's great that you didn't need a trachy. My first night was spent in Intensive Care and then they moved me to a quiet side room for High-Dependency care, then I went back onto the four-bed Ward which I preferred for the company of others ( even though I couldn't speak )

Yes, I was also put into a chair the day after my op and all the astronaut-type gadgets were slowly removed ... do ask for painkillers if your mouth is too sore. It sounds like you are doing remarkably well so far, take care and well done sweetheart !
