    2nd chemo over with
Had my 2nd chemo last Thursday and all was going great. The next day I was full of energy but rested, not silly to go mad. The main problem is my stomach, I hate the steroids, I've put 10lbs on and look 9 months pregnant! This is affecting my breathing and sleeping which is beginning to get me down now (as I'm sat here writing this at 2.40am). I do wonder what awaits me next, compared to last cycle this is easier, I'm feeling shit but not as bad as before. My back aches and neck so sleeping is...

    Devine intervention...

Dear Jesus, would you mind, I asked,

Could we create a worthier past?

    Irrational solution; fun ahead,

Diversion, revolution, rub out the things I dread,

    If I can hope,

    If you can cope,

    This viral doubt won't spread…

Dear Lord I know I’m needy,

I’m vain and daft and greedy,

I can be nice, if you can cure,

Is that God's plan?  Not sure,

    Transaction futility,

    Life viability,

I should have arranged this before...

    Father, Son and Holy Ghost,

    I do good works...

So we get a visit at last...and win a battle with the hospital

Today is the day that we get a visit from S-I-L.  I'm not completely convinced she will actually arrive but she's due at 11.50.  I've already planned to go out alone when she gets here and leave her with her brother to talk to him, to convince herself he hasn't grown a second head, he's not green - in fact he hasn't changed at all, he has a somewhat sharper hair style and looks like Bruce Willis in the Die Hard films, sometihng I have been laughing at for the past week, but that's it....

Day 36 - Trip to the RBH its Radiotherapy time

Today was a trip to a completely different hospital following my referral from my consultant after the MDT team said I needed radiotherapy. Where I live is on he boarder of a few different health trusts so I'm Now being handed over to the RBH hospital. It's actually far easier for me to get to, but I was a little wary of having to meet a whole new team of people.

The clinic was held in the ENT outpatients, and seemed very busy. It started the same as any pre-ops I have , the excitement of...

The Neck that was NOT in my head (and other tales)

So yesterday I had clinic review as well as a lovely 1.5 hour wait for my radiotherapy appointment. Apparently treatment room 8 was where the party was because it was the only delayed area. As usual the staff were fabulous and I had a decent wait - I really can't praise the Freeman enough. It seems I accidentally picked the perfect place to live if I must insist on having cancer.

I got to catch up with my nutty oncologist who had a good poke of my arm and told me she was delighted by the progress...

    Limbo land
Well out of hospital and now back home, well been out of hospital for three days but spent those days at my parents, sort of a half way house just to ease the burden of my care off my wife while i regain strength to stop her worrying. And now im in the limbo land position, not sure whether thats it with my treatment, has it stopped, will i get another attempt at stem. Cell harvest and the final third cycle of hdc to cure this cancer Beats me, my consultant and clinical nurse have done there usual...

Is this about walking, or about something else?

Haven't written my blog in a while, not since we got back from Corsica nearly a month ago.  I was going to write a reflective, musing piece about the solace of walking, but this might turn into something else, as there are other, more pressing, things on my mind right now.  I was a great walker - John and I have done several long distance hikes in this country, we've been accustomed to doing long walks around the beautiful countryside here on a daily basis, and I've also done the Inca Trail and...

    Fertility after my husbands chemotherapy
Hi, My husband was diagnosed with ALL in 2011 and is coming to the end of his treatment in september. When first diagnosed we went down to the fertility clinic in preparation for having more children after treatment. He spoke to his consultant 2 months ago in regards to getting the ball rolling for extending our family next year which dr said was fine and he would refer us for after treatment but said as his bloods have been so consistent and steady there was no reason why we couldnt 'try' naturally...

    Rant alert
I'm furious with how selfish some people are. We have a little girl next door who occasionally plays with our little one. I have explained that we need to be careful as M is going through chemo and exposure to chicken pox is not a good idea. The smaller screaming brother has had chicken pox within the last four weeks so I said again molls needed to stay away etc. every day for the last week the door has gone with the children from next door wanting to play and every day I've said no Today grandma...

    Lazybones, dreaming in post-op...
Had a hysteroscopy under general yesterday, I've got a tiny womb with a false cavity! I can add that to my list of bodily oddities along with the horseshoe kidney (joined together across the top to make one), large lump on side of skull (forceps delivery in the 50s), and large grey streak in hair over said lump ( well it's all grey now but I dye it!). I feel positive now they've done a 'proper' biopsy, surely that will give them something to work with? The 2-3 week wait again is softened by the...
