    Space Invaders and Space Wasters

I might be going a little stir crazy now my complete need to sleep has lifted a little. I've offered to go into work and crack on but no one seems to think that's a good idea until I've 'had a good break'. Was I really that bad before I went off? I thought I held it all together rather well myself! I'm still knackered and am sleeping a ridiculous amount but where before I'd wake up, shrug it off and go back to sleep, I've now reached my limit for inactivity. Today I vacuumed the house and did some...

Day 33 ( or is it 34?) meal time swallow assessment

Today a lovely gentleman came out from the Speech and Language team to do a meal time swallow assessment. I wasn't sure what this was going to involve but assumed is need a meal so bought a ready meal and cooked it ready for his arrival.

The whole thing took less than 30 min. I ate and he sat and watched, saying that I didn't appear to be having any problems. He asked what things I could and couldn't eat , and it's pretty much everythjng I can eat. He also asked about taste, which is also all...

    Day 32 - Appointments

So tomorrow sees the first of 4 appointments over the next 2 weeks. First up is speech and language with a home visit for a meal time swallow assessment. I'm assuming it's them assessing me eating, and I'm not expected to provide lunch for both of us! Then later this week is the referral to the ENT department of the hospital where I'll be having radiotherapy. The following week we have a check over at the breast clinic followed by the next check up with the original consultant. Such a busy social...

Round Two - why do I feel Ill?

Round two happened on Friday just gone.  M totally fine, I, however, have some nausea, can't sleep again and am quite restless - what's all that about?  I think it's down to the fact I'm completely and utterly emotionally knackered.  I've never felt so tired mentally as I do right now.  The constant positive thoughts and cheery face, the constant reassuring other people he's going to be fine, he can be fixed is wearing a bit thin now.  I'd love someone to ask how I am and mean...

    Summer Side Effects

They say you ought to be careful in the winter because the cold can cause havoc to the population's elderly. They never remember to tell people that it's just as likely in the blistering heat of the summer months. This latest heat wave has seen two relatives die and another two admitted to hospital, where they still remain. It's a worrying time for our family and where as I'd usually be down like a shot to assist in any way I can, currently daily trips to the hospital make that impossible when the...

    Side effects of Zalboraf

I have been taking this drug for 8 weeks and am suffering from thinning hair, excessive milia on face and scalp and thickened skin and burning sensation on soles and heels of feet.  Can anyone tell me if the hair loss continues all the time or does it gradually reduce and hair regrows?  Or has it got so bad that they have purchased a wig?  Also are there any treatments or creams that stop the pain and burning sensation in the fee?.  This is so bad that some days it is uncomfortable to walk too far and...

Chemotherapy and radiotherapy for Breast cancer on FEC/T

    Hi,

As i am nearing the end of my treatment which thankfully has been successful i thought i would share a few things that i found helpful when i was going through each stage. My treatment was in reverse as my tumor was so big it needed to be shrunk first in order to have surgery successfully.

Firstly the cancer i have/had is Lobular and i was put on the chemotherapy treatment FEC/T for 6 treatments with one being every 3 weeks. FEC for the first 3 then T(taxotere) Docetaxel.

    The first one i...

    She listen's

When I feel depressed and want to talk I tend to talk to my cat. she listen's and never Interrupts. never offer's advice or judge's. she just listen's and at time's that's all I want. It's amazing how therapeutic this can be. I can tell her anything and she will never be shocked and she will never repeat anything I have told her. she has started to sleep under my bed at night. and sometime's I wake up to find her laying beside me the last time she went through this phase I was diagnosed with bladder...
