    Moles!
Hi guys! I am wondering if anyone can tell me,does a mole have to be dark in colour for it to be melanoma??this might sound like a daft question but when i saw the dermatologist when i was having my first mole removed she said that she would generally only be concerned if a mole was dark in colour. I had another mole that i asked her to check on my stomach which she said was fine as it was light in colour, however this mole has increased in size it is a lightish colour with dark flecks through it...

    HELP & ADVICE PLEASE
My mum has been to christies yesterday (Wed) for her 2nd course of chemo, as we live in Crewe she has transport to pick her up, this time i was not allowed to travel with her as they cannot alway accomodate passengers. I did expect that when she arrived they would help and assist her to get to Ward 5 etc, but this was not the case, she was left at the door and expected to find her own way, since last Sept she has been unwell and mainly now cannot remember things and her legs are always swollen so...

Hospice Pampering day! kidney cancer lymph nodes cancer secondary
Hi people Just thought I'd tell you I had fun today! I started my weekly visit at Paul Bevan house (Hospice care), where you are pampered, can do art & crafts have reflexology massages have your hair cut, have a lovely lunch, yoga, afternoon tea & cake! The bonus is that you can meet other people in the same situation plus they have medical personal on hand to give advice and if your ill or any other problems. As i'm new to all this it is certainly reassuring and lifts your spirits if your feeling...

    Into The Unknown
Not sure what I'm expecting to post here. Am still at the early stages, i.e. four or five weeks, after Sal's (my partner) diagnosis and still struggling to take it all in (the background to where we find ourselves today is in my profile). I guess I'm hoping to find some avenue of expression that helps me to continue presenting a brave front and keeping things positive and stable for my kids, my partner's family and close friends - all the people that have been affected by the last couple of weeks...

    A lighter blue today
There is a magpie in my garden. Every day I look out of the window, there he is. Alone. I'm sure he has a partner, in the tree or something, but he never takes her out. So I wave every morning, and say 'Hello Mr magpie, where's your wife today?' Stupid I know. But I can't seem to break the habit. For anyone who read my blog yesterday, I feel slightly better today. Yesterday I ranted and shouted at the clear blue sky, yelled every swear word I could think of, cried and dripped tears onto my dear little...

    Marathon countdown
I can't believe the marathon day is almost here. It seems like years ago that Stuart came and asked his dad (Ray) to nominate a charity for him to raise funds for, but it was only January. The chosen charity was St.Gemma's Hospice in Leeds. What we didn't know at the time was that Ray would be making use of the services offered by St.Gemmas's quite so soon. My daughter and I are going to London on Saturday to give support to Stuart when he runs his race. Stuart is taking his future wife with...

No news - is it good news? I don't think so.......
Well now - I haven't fallen off the face of the Earth. It's just that I have nothing much to tell - even tonight (Tuesday) nothing has changed. I still feel quite well (which must be good), I still have a job (which must be good) and I've just had a nice meal (which must be good). So, Dr Freud, does that mean that all is good? I'm not sure. Don't get me wrong - I'm nowhere near as low as I was last week. Nothing like it, at all. In fact, I feel really happy about life (and that's mostly thanks...

    Feeling blue
Hi Everyone, I haven't been very active so far on this site - but find myself logging on more and more. Also, have shied away from writing blogs etc, too shy. But now I need to talk about things, or fear I'll crack up. I have very rare cancer called 'phaeochromocytoma', which is a tumour arising in the adrenal gland. It's linked to another type of tumour called paraganglioma, which usually starts in head and neck, but can start anywhere. It's also hereditary. My sister had neck tumour 10 years ago...
