    heartburn sickness & headaches!
Hi, I am being treated for grade 4 kidney cancer, and have been on Avastin and interferon injections, I was wondering if there is anyone else out there who is having the same treatment, and does anyone know what would be helpful to combat these awful side effects i seem to be having, headaches bloatedness, sickness, nothing i seem to take is getting rid of the headaches or heartburn! At least the lymphs in my neck appear to be shrinking!

Who dropped the pennies in my penne?
I have been dying (okay, maybe, maybe not) for a nice small bowl of pasta. Nothing major mind you, just a small 3-4 inch bowl of penne with red sauce and a meatball or two if I could stuff it in. Since I can't shop for myself I made a small list for honey to get at the food store. I did ask for meatloaf mix x2 pkgs (pork, veal, beef) to make the meatballs. What I recieved were two packages of powered meatloaf mix to flavor meatloaf. Okay, I wasn't specific and life around here has gotten either...

You all have no idea how much you've helped....
This is going to be a very brief note - simply to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has written blog comments and sent me PMs after my Dark Night blog about Thursday / Friday. So many of you have been to the same places I went to - and, I guess, I will go there again - but, with your help, next time I will be ready to fight the demons, beat the beggers and get out the other side. Last night - Friday / Saturday - I slept well once I turned in. I only woke up in the night because I needed to ;...

Well my boy got out on Friday after having his chemo. He is coping really well he has lost his hair but not his sense of humour. He is such a brave boy all he keeps saying is he is a soilder because he wants to join the army when he is old enough. He was up at judo coaching on Tuesday night and loved it. I wasnt sure about him doing it but he said he wasnt born to sit on the back burner and if he thinks like that what right have i got to stop him. My dad on the other hand has totally given up all...

    How dark is the night?
My Lord, do I need some friends tonight…….. Yesterday, my blog was light and fun – although every word was true. Gone midnight last night, I turned in and thought I would sleep soundly until the alarm went off at 06:20, then I’d get up and ready for work. How wrong could I be? I saw every minute of the night hours – every second – every single moment. I went into dark places in my mind that I have never, ever, visited before. It was awful. Every ghoul and gremlin – every dire and terminal thought...

    never blogged before
The shock of diagnosis Was etched upon her face Her eyes and mouth wide open Slow motion, now the pace “I’m sorry,” said the doctor The words ringing in her ears Her nightmares had come true Her deepest darkest fears. As she slowly left his office With a cloud above her head She struggled to remember Everything he’d said She really can’t remember How she made it home that day But somehow she got there somehow she found her way Her heart was thumping loudly As she made the calls with dread She tried...

    I got through the MRI.....!
I really don't know what all the fuss was about - however, it was what happened before and afterwards that made me laugh - eventually! I took the whole day off work, today. It's not far from here to Salisbury, but I wanted to 'prepare'. I had no real idea what to 'prepare' for - I'd never had an MRI scan before - but the thought of 'preparing' seemed like a good one. So, after a good long lie-in, I got myself ready for the journey. Nothing to eat for six hours before the scan so, with a one o'clock...

Thursday is the next Big Day.......
Well, Thursday's the big day - I wonder if the MRI will show that the cancer is still contained within the prostate - or whether it has spread. In my first two blogs, I said that it hadn't sunk in yet and I wasn't really ready to accept that I had been hit by a cancer. I still feel OK physically, I haven't developed a little flag that says "I've Got Cancer" and everything seems to be working exactly like it did before I went to my GP last October. I still can’t – or don’t want to – accept it. That...

    Reconstruction - choices
Hi I have an appointment on Thursday in Birmingham with my consultant plastic surgeon to discuss the reconstruction of my left breast after my mastectomy last April. I have watched the DVD they kindly sent me and to be honest the Tram Flap is a no no for me. Would like to hear from ladies who have had implants and LD reconstruction. I am 59 and a 36b cup so I have never been blessed with a big bust. Am a coward too hence no to the TF option. I have plenty of time to think about the options as I...
