    vulva cancer and me

Just a few months ago i was your average 22 year old, i was in uni studying for a marketing degree when i suddenly had a painful sore appear on my vulva. At first i didn’t want to go to the doctors because I was embarrassed, I knew it couldn’t be a STI as I have been with the same partner for over 6 years and was a virgin when we met. Eventually i went just because it was so sore I had no choice, then the integration began I spent weeks being tested for different STI and being told I had herpes, which...

    Foregone conclusions

i am trying not to be emotional about all of this. although i am allowed to be emotional that my father isnt here, right? the way he died, how he died, is still churning away, i push the feelings away and deal with practicality after practicality, i arranged his funeral which was one of the most difficult things, i have kept three complaints going, which feels like rubbing my head on a cheese grater. when will i have my time? my time to just relax and feel sad? i cannot allow myself to connect with...

They have now stopped all treatment, one doctor has said they have given him too strong...

Hello world, my mum who is 62 has advanced lung cancer and there talking chemo to manage the symptoms. The first ups and downs
    Hi All
I’ve just been diagnosed with NHL but have yet to find out which type it is.  I can understand that the next few months will bring with it some emotional ups and downs, and I’m sure talking to a bunch of people who are going through the same ordeals will be a good thing.
Talking of ups and downs – Has anyone else had a diagnosis like the one I had, whereby I was given the bad news, then given the all clear and once again given bad news…all in the space of half an hour!...

    Rollercoaster time

Well I managed to go and conduct my training session, I called the hospital when I left Aberdeen and then again when I got to Elgin to check he was ok, the nurse told me he had quite a night they had to get someone to sit with him as he was so agitated he managed to take his iv line out so it is now bandaged up so he cant get to it.  He was a lot brighter when I went in tonight, I made myself ill worrying that he would be in the same state again but he was sitting up in the bed he doesnt have the...

    Chemo 3

Day 2 I have felt very nausious today but kept vomiting at bay with anti- emetics and ginger buscuits, ( Good excuse to eat them) I feel starving all the time, can't stop eating. Have decided that it is probably due to the fact that I can't drink and I am probably thirsty. ( Why couldn't it have been the other way round) Am trying to drink tea and coffee, I have bottled water but it tastes yuk at room temperature. Orange juice is about the nicest tasted but I have to wait until it too is...

    Outcome of investigation - tbc

well, i managed to get through the meeting with social services. there were two people there and a woman taking notes. i also took notes. i think that they had intended to wrap it up there and then, and push the whole awkwardly inconveniant episode behind them. awkwardly inconveniant being my father's end of life care or lack of, being undermedicated when dying in pain, lack of nursing and more.

they began with telling me the positives that had come from the experience. that the nursing home...
