  • just to introduce myself
    hi

so i'm just writing this blog to introduce myself and why i am here.

Basically my girlfriend found out about 3 months ago that her mum's cancer has come back and she now has secondary breast cancer and after many appointments and tests they can only estimate that she has 'years' left.

This has literally broken my girlfriends heart and in turn is breaking mine. Her dad died when she was 5 and because she was adopted she has such a painfully close relationship with her mum, she...

    1st December new start.

Some of you lovely people left some kind words and sound advice on my blog yesterday.  And after talking to my boss I have a good talk to myself. This morning I am back in work still on admin however but am going to the staff room at break to have coffee with the other staff and maybe at lunch time. If I get through that maybe by the end of the week I will be teaching some classes  again but small steps at a time.  I think maybe I was looking at things all wrong I wanted things to back to normal, but reality...

    Scan Results

An update on my nephew.  Scan results were yesterday and I went along with my sister to give her support.  Nephew had been getting a bit breathless recently and sis was understandably more worried this time.  The good news is though that all the scans were clear - chest/mri and heart so we were delighted.  Next lot in 3 months but, for now, things are good.  Feeling tearful today though the sheer relief that was yesterday but no doubt, two months down the line it will all start to build up again.  I don...

    Tarceva, a diary
    Diary of Tarceva

My Tom started taking them on 24th November. I wrote very big instuctions.
DO NOT EAT FOR TWO HOURS UNTILL TAKEN TABLET, THEN AT LEAST DO NOT EAT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER,
BAD MISTAKE , I so thought he understood, NOT

My Tom started taking them 02.00, took 5  days to get them to 22.00, thinking the fatigue would be better served overnight, my Tom is so confused, dementia like, I have to explain dozens of times, what and when meds he has to take!!!!,
    he told his daughter that...

    Karen's Catch-Up #3

And so it came to pass that on the thirteenth (!) day they did Let Her Out. And there was much rejoicing in the House (til they realised how much tidying up they thought they had to do…). So I managed to avoid any infections this time though I’m still on aciclovir which I think is a kind of broad spectrum antibiotic, itraconazole (an anti-fungal), nystatin (antifungal mouthwash) and corsodyl (mouthwash). First week out I brought accounts up to date and made the adverts for the monthly music mag...

1st day back at work today as a teacher, gladly I excepted a day of admin and not teaching. Since mum died I have become venerable and insecure i don’t like large crowds  or loud places I’ve started having panic attracts i don’t want people even talking to me.   I was a head strong independent young woman who loved to social i don’t understand what has become of me. How do i overcome this?

every day a little bit weaker

In some ways things are better for me now: other family members coming to stay and help out, a night sitter so I can get some rest, an afternoon respite each week, lots of useful equipment around the house. But all this is because my dad is getting slowly worse, every day a little more weak, every day something else he's not able to do. I find it hard that no-one can really say what comes next, I want there to be a pattern his last days / weeks will follow so I know what to expect. The other day...
