Had my first ABVD session on Tuesday and have felt rubbish until this morning. It was the day of noggin measurements in readiness for the loss of my hair. My two bestest buddies came with me and I laughed so much my face still aches (not helped by the sore tongue in my mouth!).
Its been a good day and I actually feel like me today. Gearing up for a trip to work on Monday so wish me luck!

I was diagnosed with melanoma in May 2006, after a 'mole' was removed from my left ankle after giving birth to my 3rd little girl. I was sent to St George's hospital in London to be under the Melanoma team there. A daunting place at first but somewhere I've become comfortably familiar with! I had a sentinel node biopsy (sentinel nodes removed from behind my knee and groin) and a skin graft. The snb was positive in my groin so I then went on to have a groin dissection. Then in Feb 09 after a very...
all went well today mum was sent home some injections to have 9 days after to help with her white cell blood count but we're back on track
I had a groin dissection 7 weeks ago, i have still got a drainage bag on my leg, does anyone have any advice.???
Has anyone else suffered from an irritating cough after surgery?
I started with a tickly cough (which I am sometimes prone to) a few days after a 3 hour op. I was told it's a side effect of the tube used during the general anaesthetic but I still have the cough 6 weeks later. I have spent a lot of time sitting or lying down due to the location of the surgery & I wondered if that is not helping the cough clear up. Can anyone help ease my worries?
I can't believe my scan came back CLEAR! No change since last November & no sign of any mets in my head/spine. I am so relieved & thankful for all the support everyone has given me & I'm sure someone up there is looking down on me!
It's amazing how stress & anxiety can manifest itself. I didn't even think I was stressed - I thought I was handling events of the last 9 months quite well but how wrong was I. So now I will have to learn to relax more - sounds like a massage...
How on earth is she going to cope....how are we going to cope....??? It's surreal still at the moment as we only found out mum was terminal 3 days ago.
Has anyone heard of cachaxia? Mum has it. Linked to her cancer. I'm afraid this could finish her before the cancer does. Cancer spread to her bladder and pelvic area, also suspect in her lungs and liver. They wont investigate any further...no point!
We have asked how long mum may live, but doctors are unable to say. It's unbearable, heartbreaking...
Next Monday I finally find out if my SIRT has worked. To say I am terrified is an understatement, even though I am trying not to think about it and stay positive.
They told me from the beginning that the odds were not in my favour with just a 30% success rate at my stage. Obviously not what you want to hear when it seems to be your last chance. I've been keeping myself busy and trying to plan in stuff all the time so I don't spend my time thinking about it, but as it draws this close, I can't help...
