Time goes by so slowly ...

Rang Jimmy's (St Jame's Infirmary, Leeds)  yesterday and spoke to my (future) surgeon's secretary to see if there's any news of my impending SNB, WLE. Pleased to say I'm in the system, and will hopefully get a date by the end of this week. I do occasionally wonder if the passage of time increases the risk, but mostly I'm fine, except I'd like to get this next thing done and dusted. The only thing I can compare it with is standing on the end of a platform waiting for a late train with no indication...

    How do i tell them?

My son is starting to really notice how dad is going down hill, 3 weeks ago dad and mum were still picking him up from school, now he spends all day laying down - sometimes asleep sometimes awake.  I heard him talking to his little sister last night - he'd been sick the night before and she asked him if she was getting better like guggy "guggy's not getting better" came the reply.

I was so shocked then I just cried - I really am going to have to tell them, I know everyone says be honest...

    Treatment planning - 2

Off to Northampton General for the first time tomorrow for planning in advance of radiotherapy starting in just under three weeks time. I think it should all be straight forward: CT scan (no barium this time I'm told!), and marker tattoos to help make sure I am in the same position each time I'm zapped for the radiotherapy.

B will be going with me, even though I said I wasn't sure if he'd find himself twiddling his thumbs and I could probably manage. Actually it will be good to have...

  • My Partner Has Breast Cancer - Our Story
    End of Cycle 4

Again, I haven't posted recently and that is the reflection of things going quite well.

Cycle 4 has been similar to cycle 3 but the symptoms were more severe... more fatigue, more bone ache, more nausea, more muddy mouth taste. Nothing that wasn't manageable but worse than before nonetheless. One thing that was noticable by me was that she had more energy than before after about day 8. This was particularly good as we spent the last week away in the caravan at the British Grandprix at Silverstone...

12th JULY WOUND AND CD (graphic pics)

hi everyone... not posted for a week as the wound was looking the same all the time. but this is my last week off now so i am hoping they will take me out of all this heavy dressing and get me into a lympho stocking. UI am still dressing with acticoat, gauze, pad then tubi fast, tubi net but now only a single layer of tubigrib instead of double. I am still also doing the prontosan soak and plenty of 50/50 all over the leg and healed parts of the wounds.

Lymphoedema is minimal as i am really trying...

  • Breast, lung, bone and now bowel ... what next
    how long who know

    Hi

First time doing this so hopefully this is right. My mum had breast cancer 23 years ago and now it has infiltrated her ducts and also in her bones and lung but xray showed she now has lesion in her bowel! she lives in spain with my dad and although the treatment is great her support is 0%, I go out as much as possible, she does want to come home. The spanish theory is to try everything until the end and they dont talk about life timing limits. So what is best, for her to be here with better support...
