Treatment planning - 2

1 minute read time.

Off to Northampton General for the first time tomorrow for planning in advance of radiotherapy starting in just under three weeks time. I think it should all be straight forward: CT scan (no barium this time I'm told!), and marker tattoos to help make sure I am in the same position each time I'm zapped for the radiotherapy.

B will be going with me, even though I said I wasn't sure if he'd find himself twiddling his thumbs and I could probably manage. Actually it will be good to have the company of course, and I'm sure I will appreciate his help finding exactly where to go/park, etc for the first time.

P now knows that there is something going on. I had been due to collect her from school tomorrow, but I've arranged for her to go home with a neighbour. I explained in very simple terms a small part of the story, That is enough for now, and gradually she will ask more questions and I can say more about how it might affect our summer (and beyond). She still doesn't know she will miss Holiday School, but at least she is not at all worried about me at the moment as I am well enough to continue with all usual activities for now.

Good Luck with your treatment. I pray everything turns out well and the whole tumour can be removed.

I had rectal cancer too, I was fortunate that it blocked my bowel causing it to burst. It was very painful at the time but it meant that the surgeon managed to clear away the tumour and 2 affected lymph nodes so as that I only had to have 6 months of chemo. It could have been alot worse but luckily I now have the all clear something I wish for you in the future.

Good Luck and lots of Love Julie X
