End of Cycle 4

1 minute read time.

Again, I haven't posted recently and that is the reflection of things going quite well.

Cycle 4 has been similar to cycle 3 but the symptoms were more severe... more fatigue, more bone ache, more nausea, more muddy mouth taste. Nothing that wasn't manageable but worse than before nonetheless. One thing that was noticable by me was that she had more energy than before after about day 8. This was particularly good as we spent the last week away in the caravan at the British Grandprix at Silverstone. I think she has done a little more than she should have done but she insists it was worth it. The last week was completely free of discussions about cancer and chemo so it was particularly refreshing.

I have continued to flush her Hickman Line every 4-5 days without any issues. I am feeling quite happy that I can flush now safely. Like everyone said... it isn't difficult after proper training.

So, cycle 5 starts Thursday. Just one more after that. I am just hoping that the sysmptoms don't continue to get much worse. They are manageable at the moment but if they get much worse it will start to become less tolerable. Onewards and upwards...

    Hi SnaxMuppet

So glad that your wife was able to watch the Grand Prix how exciting, and it is amazing what you can do once you're trained properly especially for someone you care about!

I have just finished all six cycles of chemo (thank God) and have to say, like your wife, felt good once the nasty symptoms had diminished, however found after the final TAX took me a great deal longer to get going again, think chemo must have an accumulative effect on the body, so just thought would let you know.  However as we have all said everyone reacts differently and I hope your wife continues to do well with her treatment.

    best regards Alex

    Hi SnaxMuppet,

Glad to see your wife got away for a few days. But your right she wants to take it easy or it will set her back a couple of weeks. When your body speaks

listen, its telling you to take it easy.

Take care and be safe Sarsfield.

Good morning Snaxmuppet, so nice to hear you are both doing well together and managing Sal's health day to day - she's a very lucky lady to have such a strong husband to support her.  As Alex said on her previous response chemo. can sometimes have a cumulative effect on the body so Sal. must rest when she feels tired - that's when healing is taking place.  I bet she enjoyed Silverstone though - just getting away from everything.  I sincerely wish you both well and when you come out the other end of this journey you will both be so elated to have fought and won together - all the best and thanks for keeping us informed.  Ann xx

    Hi Paul,

Glad to hear that you are both coping well and hope you continue to do so for the rest of Sals treatment. How lovely that you were able to get away in the caravan and have a "free-from" week AND at the Grand Prix ! I really wanted Button to get a podium finish but after starting in 14th place I suppose 4th was good.

You have been so supportive to Sal, I am sure that having you by her side has helped enormously at this very difficult and stressful time.

My very best wishes to you both and good luck with chemo 5.

                       Lots of love, lizzie xx
