Well time to get her home now

This is my first experience of cancer in the family and boy I wished it had not of arrived, start to finish 6 months and no one told us this would be the lightly outcome and now Mum has 3-6 weeks to live and the cancer has spread to her lungs.  We are in the process of trying to get her home to die in peace in her own bed, and I am trying to be strong for her and my Dad.

I still dont really believe this is going to happen, is it really, Mum is a trooper and does not complain and says when its your...

    Progress

Back to work to tomorrow after nearly 2 months.  Scary prospect but at lease its a phased start so I can build up.

I then move on to the trials assesments and see if I am accepted.

End of week 1 - doing OK

Tomorrow I start week 2 of chemoradiation. So far I have had one minor side effect with the chemotherapy drugs: nausea. This started after a couple of sets of pills but having experienced morning sickness with both girls I had some tricks up my sleeve to help and marmite on toast saved the day again!

Fortunately after eating my way through a couple of spells of nausea the symptom subsided. I had been a bit worried it might get worse and worse the further into the week I got, but I'm relieved to...

    Hysteroscopy

    Hi all,

Just wondering if there is anyone who has had an hysteroscopy done, as I have to have one on Tuesday and it sounds horrific. I am also worried about how I'll get into the right position because of pain in back due to tumour on the base of my spine and sacrum.

Would really appreciate any information anyone has.

    Thanking you all.

    Best Wishes. Vee.  xx

    cervical/peritoneum terminal cancer

    Hiya guys,

I was wondering if any of you are able to give me some advice and help regarding my mums condition.  My mum is 53 years old and was sadly told she had terminal cancer about 6 weeks ago and had months rather than years.  It started off as cervical cancer which has spread to the peritoneum cavity. Around 4 weeks ago she started getting a pain in her lower back and she and the nurses just put it down to her syatica, anyway over the past few days the pain has become unbearable and she is now...

    Tears & Rain

Well there you have it, last night was the first night that I truly cried. Maybe bottling it all up finally came to a head.

I think I knew it was coming when I re-read my latest posts.

So what happened last night to make this sudden summer shower appear from nowhere?

I don’t know , my sister came, she had picked mum up from the chemo. She had a load more appointments for me to write down, and then said that they had told her that they were only going to do 4 cycles of chemo, I asked ‘then what?’ She...

    Remission/Cure

When does the 5 years begin when a person is then considered in Remission/Cured.

Is it from the moment the cancer is removed from the body?

Is it from the end of treatment.

What if the treatment is adjuvant ( back up after surgery)

    Do's anybody know?
