    Swings and roundabouts
Well - the snow seemed to be the final blow - is everything conspiring agaiinst me!!! I was supposed to be going to see the Cardiologist today and to have a scan to check what was happening to the fluid I have/had round my heart - that was as a result of my first medical "event" (if we can have a snow event - I can have a medical one, or two). First "event" was open heart surgery (end August last year) to replace my Aortic valve with one donated by a pig! (never expected that one either!) Just getting...

    Support for my friend
Hi everyone My friend J is going into hospital tomorro to undergo her second round of chemo. I think she coped really well first time. She was very positive and her support network was really positive. She says she felt pretty well through it (and I have to say looked well). She did have an awful irritating rash all over her which was very itchy, I think due to antibiotics used to bring her temperature to normal and she lost her hair right at the end of that round. As she enters into the next round...

    mother in law past away
Just wanted to let you know my mother in law passed away last Thursday, aged 64, 26 days after being diagnosed with cancer of the lung and brain, she deteriated very quickly and we are all so numb still. Lots of things to sort out for the funeral, which is on 10feb. She wasnt ready to go and she said she was scared which is what still haunts us, we know she is at peace now, but it has left a huge chunk in our lives, to think the grand children she worshipped she will not see grow into adults ,...

    compassionate leave
My eldest son has just gone back to kuwait after 10days compassionate leave, and I'm gutted, because the next time I see him will be next June, unless of course, I'm actually dying, in which case I will probably too doped up to know he's even there. So as you can imagine I hoping for June to come pretty quick, I hope he gets home safe, but I not ready to give up my fight just yet, even if it means getting him home safe for a while, again. Though I must admit I am getting tired, but I've got lots of...

Why do i feel like this now?
I finished all my treatment for Breast Cancer April 2008. I have been suffering since with joint pain. My consultant says its because i didnt have any restbite after my treatment. I had to go back to work because i am a single mum and work had stopped paying me. My joints are a viral RA. My nurse adviced me to go part time but i cant even do that. Then she adviced me to try and claim DLA .....The amount of forms etc that i have had to fill in is ridiculous and now they say they want to come and see...

    Race for life
This time last year I didnt even know I had cancer, then in April found a lump and within three weeks was diagnosed with Breast cancer which had spread to the lymph nodes. I started 7 cycles of chemo then in November had a mastectomy with lymph node clearance. On December 9th I was given the all clear..........wow what a year and how quickly they responded to my illness. I am so excited now to participate in the race for life... I just can't wait to do it (would never have thought before that exercise...
