Support for my friend

Less than one minute read time.
Hi everyone My friend J is going into hospital tomorro to undergo her second round of chemo. I think she coped really well first time. She was very positive and her support network was really positive. She says she felt pretty well through it (and I have to say looked well). She did have an awful irritating rash all over her which was very itchy, I think due to antibiotics used to bring her temperature to normal and she lost her hair right at the end of that round. As she enters into the next round I worry about how she is going to cope. As the treatment goes on and the more chemo she receives, is she likely to feel more sick and side affects from the drugs? Is it normal for her to feel as well as she says she was? Can anyone tell me what we should prepare for next? I would be very grateful for your input and experience, patients and carers alike. Take care and God Bless you all. GAngel XX

    Hello Guardian Angel,

I am unable to answer your questions as I haven't had chemo but I'm sure there will be a few members along soon who have been through this experience. I also have been very lucky to have had a very positive support network and have felt the benefit of it (doesn't mean there are no 'down' days but they are in the minority!). It's good that your friend has not had any serious effects from the chemo and maybe she will be one of the 'lucky' ones who don't. I wish her well on her journey and she's lucky to have a good friend like you around.

    Take care

hi gaurdian angel ,love your name. i was ok with my first round of chemo & felt realy well i too lost my hair at the end of the first cycle. i had chemo for breast cancer so it will be a different chemo that j is on . i did suffer more effects after each chemo but everyone is different love. if your friend listens to her body & rests when she needs to. eating well is important because on chemo  i found that certain foods tasted different & i went off coffee . she must drink loads of water this helps flush the chemo . she maybe well all the way through the next cycles .its something that is personal to the individual. she will become more tired i would think & could devlop a sore mouth . your friend sounds as though there is a good support network around her & that is so important . hope i have been of some help all the best to you & your friend . take care love n hugs theresa xxxxx

    Hi GA

My husband is going through chemo at the moment for AML he is due to start his 2n cycle on Monday next I have a  blog if you wish to read it or you can send me a PM and I will help in any way that I can. Your friend is very lucky to have your support as a lot of "friends" disappear when diagnosed. Being there through all of this will be hard for you as well as your friend as it's really tough to watch.

Good luck to both of you

    Lots of Love

    Teri
