Hi Mummy
You have been on my mind for days now, I cant stop thinking about you. We are back up in Ipswich only this time its not for social reasons. We are here because Baz's Grandad passed away yesterday morning from cancer too. Like Grandma he was too frail to have any treatment so they just made him comfortable and he seemed happy remembering old times and living in the past.
I didnt go to see him when we were last week, I have had enough of hospitals and hospices to last me a few years yet...
It's Wednesday, October 28th - bit of non day weatherwise (dull, grey skies with a bit of a chilly wind) reminds us of home on the Isle of Man. Andrew had quite a good night - he's now waking up every 2 hours during the night to visit the loo. His appetite is good too, eating 5 small meals a day which keeps me pretty busy either cooking or shopping. He still looks pale and wan and feeling very tired most of the time but he is in good spirits and starting to sound like his old self....
i told my little one today that the cancer has returned - she was very good bless her - the first thing she said was are they going to operate again - i told her that it wasn't an option this time - she then said 'are you going to die' - i took a big deep breath and explained to her that we couldn't say what was going to happen we have to wait for the results of the tests - i asked her if she was upset and she said no - i was shocked - she then said should i be? do you want me to be upset? i wasn...
Many of you may be aware that there is a RAGING debate occurring in the Myeloma community among patients AND medicos about doing a SCT at all. The reason for this debate is that the new novel therapy drugs "can" be used to beat back Myeloma, in a maintenance therapy sort of format. Studies are currently starting in the US to address the claims of doing this. They are collecting the patients own stem cells, in case, and then putting them on a new novel therapy cocktail, monitoring them,...
I felt so down on monday which isn't usually me. I got some lovely advice from my freinds on here. So I decided to start exercising again. Before my cancer and after my op I used to go to the gym to power walk for 45 mins and to swim for 40 mins. My oncologist said I was a fit young woman ( Your not so bad yourself,) I am 55 so I thanked him for saying that. Anyway I swam 40 mins mon and tues, then I power walked wed and today. It felt great! I intend to do this on my GOOD week. I know chemo is a...
First time I've written one of these, just feel that there is so much i need to get off my chest but have no one to say it too!. This time last year i was looking forward to Christmas oblivious to the fact my world would fall apart the day before Christmas when my dad was told he had advanced kidney cancer and the chances - 1 in 10. SInce then its been a roller coaster of no treatment available, then were lucky enough to get on to sutent, that worked at first but 2 months ago they said it had...
I finished chemo therapy in June.( I've got an endometrial cancer at Grade 111C - it had spread from the womb area to the pelvic and aoarta lymph nodes).
Tomorrow I'll have my very last Radio Therapy treatment appointment.
I've had RT every day since August 5th 2009 (apart from a one week break).
I can't wait. I'm so excited. It will all be over soon.
The scar and the cancer damage was too extensive for one set of 35 days of Radio Therapy, so I had to have two sets. An eternity...
