i just came home from work im on my lunch break and i just burst into tears.. last night we found out that my boyfriends liver surgery isnt going to be keyhole and now they have to open him up..
last time he had bowel surgery i found it so hard to see him in hospital in so much pain.. and now i have to watch him go through that all again.. i wish it was me instead!
im at work i work with children and im trying to put on a brave face but i feel like breaking down and crying.. enough is enough...
I'm now officially half way through the chemo (yay!) and this most recent cycle (the fourth of eight) was by far the easiest. Not surprising really, with my white blood count being so low, I was only permitted the oral drug (capecitibine), and for me the side effects of this are minimal.
My next oncology appointment is on Friday and I don't really know what to expect. With my white blood count being low even after two weeks from the end of the cycle (between cycles 3 and 4), I'm assuming a dose...
Two weeks ago I attended a pretty regular appointment to review an abdominal MRI as I have unrelated hip joint problems - and fortunately my husband was there too - when I was told I have a large solid mass in the muscle of my right hip. It wasn't what I'd expected to hear or to discuss that morning. I was told it was definately solid and not fluid filled; it was unconnected from the joint and was located quite separate from the bone; it's margins were clearly within the muscle and well defined...
hey guys im new to this website.. so here's a long story short..

he had chemo, radiotherapy and surgery.. a year on and things are looking much better.. the tumor was removed completely, except now he has a permanant colostomy..
he will be having more surgery in 3 weeks time to remove liver mets..
basically most of our relationship has been in and out...
Well while everyone was celebrating the royal wedding I was been told I had cancer of the kidney, after fighting with Type 1 diabetes this is the last thing I needed.
I am scared, alone and really dont know how il get through this journey.
Well just to update you, mum was due her liver resection operation this morning. They done a laperscopy first and decided it was not possible to operate. Tumour is to close to an artery. I suppose Chemo will now be next. The fight now begins. I think after the initial shock of hearing surgery wouldn't be done the family now just feel numb. Dont really know what else to say, I think for the first time in my life words are just not enough......
Last week I wrote about Shawn's birthday. This week I'm writing about his seizure. Exactly a week after Shawn turned 42 he had his first general seizure, and hopefully the last general seizure. Shawn's had focal seizures since his biopsy; little stomache 'spasm's' or his right leg twitching and only lasting for a few seconds. But I have never witnessed anything so scary as someone fitting. Only good thing to come out of it was the fact that he can't remember any of it, and the fact that he didn't...

After 5 intensive months of supporting my husband through AML, it seems the treatment is nearly complete and for all intents and purposes he is in remission.
Apart from the 1st month when he had a reaction to the strong AML trial drugs and had a heart attack, he has been remarkable.
I think his positive attitude has helped enormously, keeping his allotment, fishing, making jams for the local pub - and visiting it of course - drinking wine on non chemo days etc!!
He has come home today whilst the...
