My wonderful amazing Hero - my Dad

Wow !! I have just read some blogs and we're not alone. When you're told someone you love has cancer you feel very alone and scared don't you.  We were told last week that my Dad's cancer is back, last time he required no chemo only an op, this time the full works to try and recover.

He is the most wonderful dad anyone could have and I'm scared that he won't survive, I couldn't imagine my life without him. He is my hero and makes me feel safe - I love him to the ends of the earth...

    The BICH is back!

No, it's not a spelling error. BICH stands for Benign IntraCranial Hypertension. It's a condition that I suffer from where the pressure of the Cerebro-Spinal fluid builds up and causes pressure on my brain. This results in severe headaches, dizziness, nausea (sometimes vomiting) and extreme tiredness.

The only treatment for this is lumbar puncture to relieve the pressure. Apparently there are diuretics available which work directly on the brain, but they are reluctant to prescribe them because...

    what's it all about

my wife has just been diagnosed...starts chemotherapy on monday 23rd. it's a horrible new experience for us both.   are we being wrong in being apprehensive.  we hear so many different stories about friend's friend's friends and their experiences. but have never really come in contact with any one who has undergone chemo.  you can read up on the subject but it's not the same as hearing from someone who has gone through the procedure.    any comments would be welcome [ as long as they are...

    What is acceptable?

Been a while since my last blog.

What do you mean only 2 weeks give or take a few days????

Really? Well I guess when I said what a difference a day makes I wasn't joking, just didn't realise it swung both ways!!!

Well first good news dad had his heart surgery (open heart - defibrilator part 2 1st not enough!!!) and all went well (apparently) so two parents that need alot of care although they don't think so! After all cancer, degenerative heart failure hmmm

Discovery - the journey of a carer

When my husband was rushed into hospital some six months ago - it ws terrifying - an emergency operation revealed a gapefruit sized tumour near the bowel, which has burst and extensive surgery was the only option.

Thankfully for him, he did not need a bag after the op as the surgeons were able to cut and resection the part of the bowel affected.  The enormous shock of the diagnosis some 4 weeks later of a very rare type of sarcoma was enormous, not least because my husband always believed he was...

    The next few days

Hi all - time for the next installment of the waiting game.

Worked at home today - able to do quite a bit considering. Had a day of training yesterday which was great as I spent the day focusing on something else.

Wow I am becoming a domestic goddess - what do you do when you need to take mind off the 'what ifs...'. Change beds; tidy up, clean house; sort out washing; make yogurt; shop online - oops that should not sneak in there!

I have two more days before I go to see the nice man at...

  • Bummer....!
    Phased and fazed...

Little My had a bright idea that phasing into work would be a good plan...

The theory was do a little bit ... which turned into a little bit for 3 days and have 2 days off completely....  which turned into... well you know. Its me.

Of course if you have been with me from the beginning you know there is a difference between what Little My thinks and hears and what is realily. If you are new and unaware, somewhere in the bowels of blogland is one called something about reality checks... you'll see...
