I thought I'd introduce you to the things that keep me company, drive me mad, make me laugh, make me angry, make me coo, and make me shout - as well as so much more. My cats!
I've always loved cats above other animals, and as a student, I adopted one from a friend when she had to move abroad. He was with me for years until he finally passed at the ripe old age of 18 ish. I then needed a break, to grieve and reconcile my loss. However for this time I was a little lonely, and felt like something...
My life has been the most incredible rollercoaster and I've learnt so much from my experiences and the people who've been involved in one way or another. I've been to beautiful places - Paris, Venice, Mauritius and Sorrento to name a few - I've seen incredible people in concert - Luther Vandross, Whitney Houston, George Michael and even Barbra Streisand! - and I've enjoyed raising three wonderful children, my youngest turned 18 last summer.
There has been drama though; divorce...
So, on top of all the cancer stuff that's goingon - I also have PCOS, which is short for poly-cystic ovary syndrome. This is a condition that affects more women than they know it does, because often the symptoms aren't things that would normally get checked out. Instead, they are put down as just 'period issues'. Sorry gents, it's one of those sorts of posts! So a lot of women have it, and don't realise they have it - which isn't really an issue as there's no cure or treatment or anything really...

I'm sitting here on this rainy Friday afternoon feeling rubbish. But knowing that the last chemo has been done is helping the rubbish feeling. I'm actually glad it's pouring down and going to rain all weekend because i don't intend to do anything!
I worked hard all day yesterday, like an idiot, and this morning, but then the side effects hit at lunch time, so that's it, time to slow down.
My throat is sore, my mouth is 'furry' my eyes are watering...
So first off, there's not really going to be any order to these blog posts, they're just going to be whatever pops into my head and I feel like writing. So don't expect a timeline at first. lol. That said, this post is a rundown of everything from start to fini....now, all the treatments and struggles etc put down in one place.
2012, July ish, and I'd overcooked the chicken. Didn't matter, it was still tasty - but it was dry. Not paying attention and I stupidly inhaled rather than swallowed...
I’ve made myself look human today. I realise I’ve now reached a point in my treatment where I now look unwell as well as feel unwell. Makeup is essential to avoid frightening people!
Having managed to do the cold cap, I do still have hair. But it looks bad. About a third of its normal thickness, dull and lifeless. I wear it in a french plait most of the time as that somehow gives the illusion of more hair and covers the thinner patches. Sometimes I think about packing in the cold cap but...
(This one was written back in Jan/Feb 2013, but I had nowhere to post it)
It's official! I've passed all the tests and background checks, and I've been allowed into one of the most exclusive clubs in the world. To get in, the tests were really invasive and intrusive, and for a while it looked like I wasn't going to get in. But then, after one last check that was the most probative yet and which I had to fight hard for, they found what I had been missing and I was allowed in!
So...
I had my last chemotherapy yesterday and I thought I'd feel elated. Being treated at an outreach centre the nurse apologised for not having a bell for me to ring but I don't feel like ringing bells.
It still seems like a very long road to travel with further surgery and radio therapy taking me into at least June.
Am I unusual in this or are you feeling the same?
I do feel some relief and hope that once I get through the next couple of weeks I may feel less tired but it certainly doesn't feel...
