Well this is a big week, by Friday I hit halfway through the treatments. Its a small thing, but that halfway mark means that I have more behind me than ahead. Its important.
Things are going well, no major issues - my beard doesn't really grow now, the electric shave of a morning is getting virtually nothing out. I think that my comb is getting more hair stuck in it than usual, some thinning should be all I get - not a full blown slap head :-) finally my mouth is getting a little sore. Not much...
Well after a positive start to the week its gone downhill a bit, mostly exhaustion but my throat feels really thick, like its been coated with something. Not eating and drinking much either because everything tastes vile:( I am attempting to use juice ect like medicine and drinking about 50-80 mls straight off to keep my fluids reasonable and not get too dehydrated. However the GOOD news is my clinical nurse specialist just rang my daughter, because she had left her a message, and told her my CA125...
It's so hard to believe it's 6 months tomorrow since you passed. I mean, are you really gone?
For about a week I've been anxiously waiting for the video of you, Gran. Amie finally sent it to me, there are more to come.. but it brought a tear to my eye.. You were so happy. I feel so lost without you.
Tomorrow is 6 months exact since you left. I miss you so much. Tomorrow will be hard, I cannot believe it's already been 6 months. I miss you so much, so so much. I cannot function properly some days. I just miss your voice, your laugh.. being able to talk to you.
I hate that I cannot...
Day 90? Blimey, where does the time go? I must admit that I am wishing my life away at the moment, I can't help it but I am counting down the radio and chemo sessions and wishing the treatment free weekends came faster and lasted longer. Not a good way to live your life I think, but I guess its natural enough under the circumstances.
Today we had my sons birthday party for his friends - tobogganing at the the local sports center. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves - just like last year - although...
Well i dont know if its because strength of chemo being reduced or taking the prescribed meds regular, but i'm having a much better time this time, coping well, doing little things round the house plus eating and drinking all good!!!! If it will be like this in between chemo i will b able to cope fine. :) dee
Its been a long day at the hospital today, I was out all morning. It was just one delay after another, starting with a 45min delay for the radio. Still, myself and the other waiting zappees (yes I know that's not a word) managed to have a long chat - not sure why that happens sometimes, often I'm rather self conscious of my speech and don't join in these things but today I did. Mostly, as I'd often the case, the others waiting treatment were older with a high percentage of pensioners...
So haven't posted for a while because nothing of note has happened.
Bob the blob is now getting blasted with radio waves. 5 days in and Husband has the tickling sensation on the zapped area of skin of mild sunburn. E45 or similar has helped (thank you Hiloa for suggesting pre radio application). His first appointment ran really late but the following 4 have been close to schedule.
He is trying to work out how many shifts are running as he hasn't had the same team for his sessions twice. He...
Yesterday evening we went to a very useful session at our local hospital's Macmillan Centre. It was a small informal group of people and their supporters who had started or were about to start chemo. We had interesting discussions with a lead nurse and two experienced chemo patients on all aspects that you worry about: how important is diet?; will the drugs make me really tired?: can I go on holiday? etc, etc.
The emphasis was on how every individual's experience will be different but there...
