    Radiotherapy - into week 4

Well last week I couldnt see myself making it into week 4 but I am more mentally prepared for it. I still have a mouth full of sores and ulcers, and the saliva has definately thickened up and become cloudy. I have a complicated drug taking routine which sees me alternating between paracetamol and diflofenac every 3.2 hours, with a 2 to 3 ml of oramorph every 4 hours. It does allow me to get some sleep but I still wake up every couple of hours and need to clear my mouth out. That's where the Caphopsol...

    Porn did It help??

I was told by my consultant a few month's ago that I would most probably end up Impotent. well tonight I did some thing I thought I would never do. but first some back ground. I had been worried about Impotency and It has been well over a year since any Intimacy between myself and my wife has taken place " she Is afraid of becoming radio active" because of the radio therapy. It was the same when I had the defib put Into my chest. "she was worried about being electrocuted"... ...

    I think i,ve had it
Just over two weeks ago i had the the dreaded consultation , only to be surprised that things were going well and the results were really good, only to be told that they think i should under go a third and final round of HDC , Oh ok well could be a lot worse, but if the results were so good, why put me though the hell again , With the concern that the last bit of chemo had entered my body over two months ago it seems likely that the effects of the chemo would be wearing off, So off i toddle...

  • Help and advice for my family and my Father.
Please help with advice, support and well anything to stop the heartbreak :(
Hello, I can on this site as I am looking for support for myself, my mum but mainly for my Dad. For the past few weeks he was complaint about his leg 'feeling funny' and often shaking and/or he would lose balance therefore making him stumble and sometimes fall over. A few year as ago he trapped a nerve there and just thought it was a repeat of that. My Dad is one of those people that will only ever go to the Doctors if his head was hanging off. I kept telling him to make an appointment and so he...

  • Sublingual Salivary Gland Cancer- my journey
    Half way
I've been a bit quiet this week because it's been a tough week. For some reason all my side effects have escalated quite rapidly this week. I've been really struggling with managing the pain, particularly at night. I've got a lot more ulcers, particularly on my tongue and side of mouth. Eating is pretty much out the window now, I'm on Ensure drinks pretty much tall the time. I don't mind them. My drugs now are paracetamol, voltarol( difflofenac ) and oramorph. With difflam mouth wash. That...

  • Redundancy, separation, house sale and what? breast cancer? are you kidding me?
march 20th sat watching tele and feeling that niggle!

Being made redundant at the end of December was a big deal. After all, I'm a careers adviser. What's that all  about? I should have given myself better advice that's what.

Then that day in January where we decided enough was enough and after 24 years together the show was over.  We had to put the house up for sale and get on with our lives. But wait, the girls aren't coming anywhere with me. No its my fault so that's that!

Sat watching tele on march 20th. Everyone in bed and not...

    update

Had my first scan after 8 weeks of Vem. It went as well as can be hoped so good news... All my tumours shrank and the consultant oncologist was really pleased.

On the negative side, after 8 weeks of Vem I was in a bit of a mess with side effects and could hardly walk. I am moving to a schedule of 3 weeks on and one week off the meds for now to see how I go but have applied for a blue badge anyway as it has made travel and getting around very difficult.

Had a few warts removed, including one on...

  • How can I possibly cope with my dad dying....
    gbm4 dad had a fall

Hi everyone so I haven't been here for a wee while. Dad had his mri and it came back that the tumor has grown only 5 mm though so not super fast. However we are noticing a lot of confusion and he had a fall the other day trying to get into his chair he said he didn't think it was a seizure he just felt faint. He is also on morphine now as paracetamol no longer works to rid the headaches. They are putting his steroids up to 4mg now. It's so sad watching him walk around with his sick bowl it's like...

CT Scan done - what happens now?

So the CT scan happened yesterday after the 4th round of chemo.  We're still waiting for special to send some inof through about what happens if you stop at 4 rounds as opposed to 6 and to be fair I'm not holding my breath for an answer.  This of course is making it a very real possiblity that M will withdraw consent next Tuesday and tell them where they put their poison - I'm quite looking forward to the meeting as so far they think I'm the one they need to pacify - how wrong can they be!...
