So confused angry and scared

1 minute read time.
Mum has cancer that we know for sure but what we don't know is what type lung or sarcoma :( it started in March she had a pain in her back thought it was due to gardening but it then went to her left hip, doc said it was arthritis and gave cocodamol for 3 months then in June she fell in the bath room and had to be taken to A&E nothing broken done X-rays and they could see her hip bone was deteriorating, she was kept in and had MRI and CT scans done and was told she has stage 4 lung cancer which has spread to her hip and there are 3 lesions on her lungs all the could do is one dose of radiotherapy for the pain. She then went for a biopsy on her hip at stanmore hospital and they are saying its sarcoma...... She was due to have lung biopsy done but was too unwell. We met with her consultant in fracture clinic who thinks it's sarcoma as test on biopsy say this and he wants her to have op on hip to remove it however her consultant confirmed she would be to unwell for chemo which we understand and it came across that he wouldn't advise her to have the op on hip but he will right to the surgeons .... I read his notes they say surgery for pain relief symptoms, mum explained she would rather die having the hip op then stay in pain and die slowly . I am so scared and confused and don't know what to do or know if I am asking the right questions pls help advise needed xxx

  • Hi,

Sorry to hear about your mum. There is a helpline here that could help you work through some of the issues that your mum is facing. You will probably find that your mum's orthopaedic consultant will have encountered cases such as your mums before. The anaesthetist will fully assess your mums suitability for surgery . You could ask to speak to them. The oncologist may have concerns however the anaesthetist will make a full assessment including this information.

    Hope this helps

    Much Love

    Court
