Hi guys,
Mum has put up a good fight for over three years now, we've battled on and kept her strong as a family but yesterday recieved a devastating blow that I'm not sure how to deal with. At 21 I'm trying to come to terms that I may not have my mum around for much longer...her chemo hasn't worked again and the cancer has spread. There are limited options left now. I have no idea how to feel or what to do. The thought that this could be my last Christmas with her terrifies me. I'm struggling to...
Well Brandon seems to be doing good he is doing everything the doctors told him he couldnt . He loves his new school and he is doing judo again and at school he is doing rugby and football. He is over doing it but im not stopping him he needs to know his own limits. Some days are good and some are still bad he still gets tired and that frustrates him but i tell him what he knows and he is fine x

Had a good I think. Mainly just phone calls from hospitals, but good to keep the ball rolling.
Have been told that they've ordered a PET scan for me, so it's just a matter of a 2 week wait. I have a CT scan planned for Wednesday next week. Have no idea how much that will change my life. Hrmm...
The surgeon who removed my swollen lymph node called me today. That was nice. She was very reassuring and told me not to read the doom and gloom on the medical sites regarding stages and stats.
...Have had to kick myself up the backside today big time !!!! met a neighbour who asked me how i was she knew i had been in hospital 5 weeks ago found myself telling her i had cancer and she got so upset which upset me we were in costcutters at the time wedged in between the freezers and the toilet rolls!!!however i found myself reassuring her that no way was i going to let this alien invade my life for long how dare it and thats the attitude im taking have got so much to do in my life so MR C you...
I've just started my 2nd line chemo - taxol on a weekly basis. I have to say it is a might relief after a month of feeling in limbo waiting for scans, then needing to have an op to fit stents in both kidneys and to recover from that.
I feel more positive now as I am back on the treatment treadmill and with now having weekly chemo I feel that I am really fighting this cancer and can take it on.
I really hope that my next scan (end of Jan) will show that this new chemo is working. But I've decided...
as some of you know i have a blockage in my small bowel which has been causing me problems, namely being hospitalised 3 times in 2 weeks!! well i had an appt. through to see the colectoral surgeon for 17th dec to discuss the next step and duly noted this on the calender. next day the phone rang and a man asked to speak to susan....took me a while to catch on that was me cos no-one ever calls me susan. the voice turned out to be that of the surgeon who had looked after me so nicely when i was in...
I'm about 48 hours into my Cancer experience. I was told on the 7 December 2010 that the lymph node they removed was a melanoma. I had suspected I had Lymphoma but now I'm not sure which is worse.
It's heart stopping and devastating at first. But yesterday I saw the Dermatologist who seemed reassuring. 2 new holes in my body. They took the least perfect looking moles to send to the lab, even though they didn't appear to be suspect under close examination. They conference call with Southampton...
This time last year all of our hope and dreams were dashed as the consultant so calmly said to Bert " you have active leukaemia in you blood just go home you will be lucky if you have a couple of weeks left" Why do they have to deliver such bad news in such an unforgiving way. I think if Bert had been fit enough he would have thumped the Dr. Not for what he had to say but how he said it.
He never wanted to know the prognosis right from the beginning and after 18 months of keeping it from...
Ello everyone,
Well just to let you know that round 2 of chemo seems to be going much better then the first time round :-) Scalp cooling treatment still seems to be going well... i have still got a full head of hair (so far) although i no longer have to shave my armpits.... hardley a bad thing is it lol.
I now have injections day 1 after chemo which last for 5 days these are to boost my bone marrow and i noticed a massive difference i wasnt nowhere near as tired as i was round 1... then day 5 after...
The past few days have been quite good. I overdid it shopping for some winter clothes and party shoes for the girls on Monday (glad to have done it though), and then slept a lot yesterday and spent hours finishing a great Maggie O'Farrell novel. Today: coffee in Stony and into the library to hand in a letter of support (it is threatened with closure in the cuts - it would be a huge loss to the community).
The good news is that the surgeon and nurse are happy with my progress. I had my appointment...
