Round 2 of chemo and scalp cooling

1 minute read time.

Ello everyone,

Well just to let you know that round 2 of chemo seems to be going much better then the first time round :-) Scalp cooling treatment still seems to be going well... i have still got a full head of hair (so far) although i no longer have to shave my armpits.... hardley a bad thing is it lol.

I now have injections day 1 after chemo which last for 5 days these are to boost my bone marrow and i noticed a massive difference i wasnt nowhere near as tired as i was round 1... then day 5 after chemo i take antibiotics and anti fungals for 7 days!! Getting sick of popping pills now.

My mac nurse came to see me, apparantly i shouldnt be feeling sick at all so shes changing all of my meds for me to a stronger dose. She said i also might be entitled to some extra financial support which really lifted my spirits, its bad enough fighting this diease let alone worrying about what money you have got coming in!!

Soooo so far so good and i just hope not to land myself in hospital again :-)

Hope your all keeping well,

Love Emma xx :-)

    Hi Emma,

Your post is making me smile - I understand that your ill and it's no smiling matter but I have just found out that my mum has a form of Cancer that she is needing Chemo for and to be honest I don't really understand what happens, how unwell it makes you feel but more importantly how mum will feel, she said that she gets her first bout of Chemo is on the 16th and the second is on the 23rd - which she has warned me that it will make her ill and xmas may not happen for her....

I suppose what I would like is some helpful advise.... please : ) thank you - Charlotte

    Hi Charlotte,

So glad i made you smile even when you have been given such bad news!! Its the only thing you can do though with this disease!! From what i have read it depends on the type of chemo that a person is having as to how ill it makes them... im having epirubicin which i read in to and had kinda prepared myself for a rough ride!! My 2nd round of chemo was due for the 22nd but because of xmas i asked if it could be delayed so i could enjoy xmas with my family.... I dont know anything about your moms situation but why dont you put it to her and see if it could be delayed?? even if its just until after boxing day :-) Theres loads of usefull information on here, maybe you could write a blog then people can help you with what lies ahead??

    All the best, Emma

    xx :-)

Hi all, I start my first session of chemo in a couple of weeks and have decided to use the cooling cap. Is it likely to cause headaches during or after I’m home?

Hi

Welcome to the Mac Community.

Is this chemo for Breast Cancer (group link) or another type ?

If you click / tap the 'Groups' button at the top of the page you can find almost all cancer types listed alphabetically. Do join and post the above question to the group you would benefit most from as the members there will have more experience of similar chemo types.

Hope this is of some help getting you where you would get the best support, G n' J
