21st May 2013
Mum had been on nebulisers all night and then the doctors said we want to do a ct scan as the regular treatment isnt working and they just wanted to make sure they hadnt missed anything.
Mum was taken for her CT and returned to the ward and us.This was about 2 in the afternoon. My Sister and I spent the afternoon having a little giggle trying to cheer mum up a little.
Later that afternoon the doctors came to my Mums bed, pulled the curtain round and proceeded to tell us Mum had tumours...
My dear Mum has had c.o.p.d for many years which gives her chest infections at a rate of one a month. They happen so often and usually respond to steroids and antibiotics that we wasnt really concerned when in May 2013 mum got another bad chest.
That was until after a week of treatment Mum was worse than ever. She could hardly breathe and any physical effort made her gasp for air. We begged her to go back to the doctors or even go into hospital but she point blanked refused. Eventually she got so...
I'm feeling a little down today and sorry for myself, it's not that anything bad has happened, its just always feeling under the weather and wondering if i'm ever going to feel relatively normal again. Sorry to be so down today but i did say at the beginning it would be a warts and all account. It may be that as the day goes on i will be able to give myself a kick up the bum but we will see :( dee
Another long day over with, these chemo days just drag. At least then central line I had done saved any mucking about with them trying to find a vein and get a cannula in it. I don't know what it is about my veins, but they are damned cowards. First sign of a needle and they go hiding. Of course the chemo makes you veins worse, it really does them in apparently, so they stood no chance with me.
At least the central line solves that bit of nonsense, they just hooked me straight up and we were...
Back to normal folks, up until this morning I still felt a bit queezy, but I feel fine now. Hopefully I can build up a it prior to the next round and hopefully I don't have as much sickness. Was speaking to someone today who suggested acupuncture for the sickness so I may go down that rout, but will look into it first .
Take care all .
Well this is a big week, by Friday I hit halfway through the treatments. Its a small thing, but that halfway mark means that I have more behind me than ahead. Its important.
Things are going well, no major issues - my beard doesn't really grow now, the electric shave of a morning is getting virtually nothing out. I think that my comb is getting more hair stuck in it than usual, some thinning should be all I get - not a full blown slap head :-) finally my mouth is getting a little sore. Not much...
Well after a positive start to the week its gone downhill a bit, mostly exhaustion but my throat feels really thick, like its been coated with something. Not eating and drinking much either because everything tastes vile:( I am attempting to use juice ect like medicine and drinking about 50-80 mls straight off to keep my fluids reasonable and not get too dehydrated. However the GOOD news is my clinical nurse specialist just rang my daughter, because she had left her a message, and told her my CA125...
