My father died in March 2013 3 weeks after being diagnosed with cancer, I am an only child although now an adult. I thought I was coping with my father's death, I put all my strength into supporting my mother - they would have been married 63 years 2 days after his death. Then 12 weeks later on Father's Day my mother was diagnosed with the same cancer, no treatment. I feel like my world has ended and although I have a supportive family of my own nothing can fill the void I feel. It is like...
the above title pretty much tells u all there is to know.
on april 22nd life was relatively simple and unworried.
april 23rd i went for my 1st mammogram at the grand old age of 47. random selection programme being introduced in my area to bring down the age of mammograms from 50 to 47. so i was selected purely by chance.
i was recalled to hospital 10/14 days later as scan had shown something that they were worried about.
2nd scan and biopsy were done 2 weeks after 1st mammogram
and a week after...
I am finding it harder and harder to communicate with people.
So after getting back from visiting my Grandma last night I was informed by my boyfriend the minute I walked through the door that the flat we live in is now being sold. We have no money, and somehow need cash for a new deposit and first months rent for wherever we end up living so it's time for Mr Credit Card I'm afraid. We have no choice. I don't know where to live. I'm scared.
My Grandma is having her pacemaker fitted today and I'm having my first ever smear test. Today is shit...
...For God's sake. My Grandma is in hospital again.
She's had an angina attack in the night so my Grandad took her to the Drs the next day and when she was having some tests done, she had another one. They phoned an ambulance straight away and they took her to hospital, where she is now. We think she might have to have a pacemaker fitted, which I guess is a pretty routine procedure and Grandma is a strong lady, I think she can get through the operation. As bad as this potentially sounds, it...
Feeling alot better today. Work is better, the sun is shining and it's nearly the weekend!
I'm going to ring or text my mum at some point to let her know about this site. It could provide her with alot of support. There is so much stuff on here I had no idea, why didn't I look sooner?!
I'm in a productive mood today. Today I want to be active and postitive and I'm abitious. I want to do more for my mum - I can't be there directly because I moved out around 4 years ago so my sister is...
I have known since March that my Dad was going to die.
1st of all they gave us anything up to 18months. Then it was 6 months.
Monday night it was hours. Now it's days.
Monday night he was taken to hospital after having a fall, then a fit. (Which he has never had before)
We were taken into the family room and told to prepare for the end. Myself, my mum, brother and sister went to say our goodbyes. It was emotional, but we were glad that it would be over for him before he had to go through...
Today I have felt mostly ok. Things have been a bit difficult at work the past few days so that's not made things easier, but for the most part, no negative feelings or thoughts today.
I nearly got upset earlier when I was first browsing this site and having to get to grips with seeing the word 'cancer' everywhere. That was hard.
I'm finding little things are setting me off at the moment, like last night on 'Love Your Garden' there was a woman with M.D and she was wheelchair bound....
I thought it would be wise for my first blog entry to introduce myself and explain why I am here!
Since my mum's diagnosis a month ago, I (just like many others, I suspect) have been so up and down about it and some days I just don't know what to think. I'd heard about the Macmillan website before and thought there might be some information on here about the treatment my mum will be recieving and the type of cancer she has. What I found blew me away - a community! A whole internet community of people...
Better day but still feel very tired whenever I sit down. Side effect of my weedkiller probably.
Walked into the lane and found some builders knocking down a brick wall. So one of them and I took barrow-loads of these bricks and rubble into my garden so I can use them to finish my wall. Fantastic luck! Made my day as I had run out of building bricks & blocks for the wall. Now I can press on.
Exercise tired me but I felt so happy doing something positive and active. One small dose of ibuprofen...
