    End of week 1

Well, I've had the CT and MRI scans. I'm due a colonoscopy tomorrow so hopefully the docs will have all the information they need to see what can be done.

Can't say I'm looking forward to what the doctors will tell me but what will be etc.

I think it's the not knowing that is getting to me. When the full diagnosis is known and, hopefully, a treatment plan is put in place I can move forward.

The internet is a wonderful thing but when you look up information about cancer it can...

    BM10k

Well I did the BM10k run on Sunday. And it sure was a lovely sunny day for it. Perfect in fact. It was the BM10k I did it's before the Brighton Marathon which I did last year, So thought I'd do the easier one this year. Bit late getting there, I made it just by 2 mins before the start of the race, I had to run like hell for a mile. Nice warm up though. Next time always leave a lot ealier even though I was staying with a friend and he did say don't worry loads of time. Not realising the traffic, He...

  • Caring for mum with terminal lung cancer
    Monday

Mum had a bad night last night. Woke up with pain around her abdomen. She thinks it's from coughing.

Mum is totally bed bound and I'm caring for her at home. Last week I had to be signed off work by my GP so I could look after her.

Mums breathing a a bit crackley today and eaten next to nothing.

She's also become really skinny over the last 3 weeks due to her poor appetite.

Not sure what's coming next! At least she's still got all her marbles!

had op! drains are a pain

Well, Thursday came round and I wasn't really nervous just wanted it over. Walked down to OT, got on bed then next minute waking up, to the nurses talking about who they fancied, so I butted Gerrard Butler, it was actually 5 hours later!

then the next thing I asked was it just the two nodes, to be told no all of them, so I said chemo then.

had to wait two hours for bed, ended up in a private room! How jammy! Didn't really hurt, first thing phone dad let him know I'm ok.

    looked...

  • Never thought this would happen to us
    Sunday, bloody Sunday

Every day is bad but Sunday is the worst. This was our special day, and being alone hits doubly hard. In the early days we would play tennis in the morning and then go to a pub with friends, once we retired it became a long dog walk in the morning, leisurely breakfast with the papers,  gin and tonic with chilli puffs and beef jerky and a special dinner that we had chosen together. Then a quiet evening finishing the bottle of red and watching something together. Nothing exciting, just doing what we...

One Breast or Two, That Is The Question

December 23rd, not even 4 months ago, though at times it feels like 4 years or 4 days depending on the fluctuation of mood.

Decisions, decisions.... December 23rd.... Informed will be having a Mastectomy after treatments..

    Re-construction or not ?

    Re-construct ! Re-construct ! Re-construct.. !!!!

No need to think, great so you chop it off, then build it back again..

Simple, no quandaries, no angst deciding...

DD one side and Zilch tother... No Thank You..

But, of course, simplicity can have transient...

    Missing him so much

I'm at a loss after my husband of 40 yrs lost his fight to blood cancer MDS .....he had a bone marrow transplant last June plus top up cells in December  .We thought he had  turned a corner but caught my cold in January this year which turned into  pneumonia and sepsis  shock it was so quick .

After him going through everything it seems so unfair it was the day before our 40th anniversary they turned the ventilator off .

Now 11 weeks on I'm just going over everything can not sleep and can not stop...

    Painful Mammogram

Hi Ladies, sorry if this appears twice but not sure if I have posted correctly. I had DCIS breast cancer in 2014, follow up mammogram year later which was relatively uneventful but have just had my 2nd year check up and the mammogram on my operated breast was so painful I am worried that this is because the cancer has returned. The "healthy" breast was fine but my other was excrutiatingly painful and I was at a point nearly telling her to stop it was that bad. It has definitely put me off mammograms...

  • Never thought this would happen to us
    First month over with

Today it is one month since Pete died. It has been the longest and foulest month of my life. I exist, no more. I get up, walk the dogs, try to eat, shower, drink too much, and go back to bed to lie awake most of the night. There is nothing more than that,  no happiness, no enjoyment, no interest in anything. The only feelings are bad ones, sadness and misery. The reality of loss keeps hitting me. Over and over again, and each time like the first.

I am trying. I have met one other widow for...
