hi i am new to this. I have come out the otherside of treatment but had a very bad time with chemo called docetaxal. I am on gabapentin for neuropathic pain this has worked very well but have now found that i am having really bad joint pain in my hands and knees. I have had xrays and scans and they say that there is nothing wrong could it be the tablets that cause this. I am also on amitriptylne and co codamol. i just would like to be out of pain. i wondered if i stop taking them if it would go away...
Well thank you to everyone who commented on day 26 post your kind words and comments helped.
Spent today nervously filling in time with jobs ~ shopping, sorting food, dragging my daughter uniform shopping in the evening when I know it is not as busy dreading that time of night when I get to sit and watch the seconds pass by seemingly taking hours.
And now it is the early hours of Wednesday morning when I relive the events of 27 days ago the same images rolling round again and again every Wednesday...
Arrived scrubbed up and polished and in good time for my MRI this evening.
On replying in the negative to the questions about having any recent deposits of metal in my body or to ever having any metal objects enter my eyes, I was relieved of the Pink Floyd CD that I had bought to be played through the supplied earphones and introduced to the cylindical capsule of the MRI scanner that took up half of the scanning room.
I was instructed to lie on the scanners 'bed' which extended like a tongue from...
HI, Im new to this. i am 34 years old and have just recently had my world turned upside down, inside out and begining to think i'm on a never ending roller coaster. I am married and have 4 children (12, 10, 3 and 8 months). Ten months ago while I was pregnent my husband had blood in his urine and a lingering cough. I sent him to the doctors and after lots of tests it was discovered he had advanced kidney cancer, that had also spread to his lungs. At the same time we discovered I had placenta...
It don't seem any easier yet. That tense tonight I had a glass of wine to try and relax. I won't make a habit of drinking, its just there was a glass left from the weekend before last, when some friends were round.
I talk to Julies photo.
I miss her.
I feel lonely in the company of friends.
My life does not have any purpose.
My name is Penny and my husband was diagnosed with malignant melanoma in April, he has had most of his left shoulder removed and an axillary clearance in his armpit done, he has now been told that the melanoma is in the lymph nodes in his neck and has to have a neck dissection done next week, this has really rocked us as a family, every thing is happening so fast. My job involves dealing with tissue samples in a histology lab so every operation that my husband has had comes to where i work, and it...
Tomorrow I will be moving accross country to be nearer my family. We came here to the Midlands when Gary's job moved twenty years ago. The plan was always to go back south when we retired. Sadly it was not to be, and I am making the return journey alone.
I would not say I have come to terms with losing Gary in such a cruel way, I doubt I ever will. Slowly, inch by inch, I am learning to cope without him, and accept what my counsellor calls "the next chapter of my life".
I am thankfull...
I lost my husband to NSCLC 26 days ago, and the massive sense of loss still overwhelms me on a daily basis. At just 51 he had everything, we had plans, hopes and dreams then suddenly 8 months ago we were hit by the steam train of cancer. Huge problems arose at various points ~ secondary cancer in the brain followed by the bones yet we always strived to protect our families and my husband bravely fought each day.
I sometimes feel I let him down ~ and the what if questions form in my head What if...
