I got 'the phone call' from the Hospital at 9.45pm tonight....raced to get Mom round to look after my daughter and then raced to the Hospital. Got to the Ward at 10.14pm....2 minutes too late....can you believe it? You were still warm as I hugged and kissed you and my tears soaked your face....I just couldn't believe you were really actually dead.
I'm gutted, so gutted I wasn't there to hold your hand as you slipped away. There's only me, Mom and my 5 year old daughter so we've...
Cancer sucks! Yes, it does.
I never, ever thought I would ever get cancer except maybe something of the skin. I have been sunburned way too many times in my life, I am the original pasty white girl. Plus, skin cancer runs in the family. All that sunbathing when young. (Not me, I would never tan, just turn bright red and get fainty.)
I did have a cousin that died from lung cancer at the age of 39 but she started smoking when she was 9, or something.
Everyone in my family lives to be 90 or so. ...

I held his hand. I kissed his hand. I begged him not to leave me. I told him I needed him. But more importantly I told him I loved him.
He is my hero. He is the Guide and the Weight of My World. He is my everything. And I am his mini-me.
I held his hand. He took his final breath. Or at least we thought he did. He is stubborn. He is brave. He is courageous. He is the most amazing man that I will ever know. He is a fighter. He is my father. He is my daddy.
I miss him.
Rewind.....
I've been looking around the site at various blogs and discussions and I found it quite comforting to read other experiences so I thought I would do the same. Maybe hopefully it will comfort someone else one day, or at least let them know what to expect should they have a similar diagnosis to mine.

Well things have taken a big step this week . Mum has taken a turn for the worst and has had to have even more tablets now (32 a day !) She is feeling tired and has become unable to walk or even stand unaided. She has been taken to the hospice where she sleeps most of the time . strangely though she seems peaceful and relaxed .They are really lovely there.Meanwhile I cannot sleep and am worrying myself silly . I think I'd like to keep a record on a weekly basis where possible; I like to know where I've been and think about where I'm going.
We learned about Nana's terminal cancer last Friday. It was both a shock and not one, as we knew she was ill and had thought it was one thing until a few days before. When that idea was proved to be wrong I was pretty certain about what was actually going on. We've been told 6-12 months but, as that was the first scan, that's nowhere near set in stone...
And I do. I miss my big, strong man. I miss the intimacy.
The illeostomy, the second stoma, the real change in his body image, means he doesn't touch me now other than in that long distance, holding hands thing. No more big hugs, no more lying together, draped around each other, Just no more the skin contact: the ease, the comfort with each others' bodies, is just gone. Nobody talks about this at all. Or maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm the only one in the world who has lost the love of...
