  • My Cancer Fight
    Day 1

Today, Monday 20th August 2012, I was diagnosed with vulval cancer.  I was absolutely shocked by the news and its still not sunk in; I feel numb, then I cry, then make jokes about having new lady bits being given to me, then cry again.

I'm due to see a plastic surgeon on Wednesday 22nd August and I will have surgery on the 6th September.  That doesn't scare me so much but having the MRI scan to ascertain if the cancer has spread does.  I'm hoping and praying the cancer has been caught in time...

  • Mums Nuroendocrine Jouney!
    Good days :)

Mum is feeling great! she says that she feels no different to how she felt 6 months ago, in fact probably better now she has lost some weight ( was 3 stone overweight) she has energy, and is eating well.

She seems to have got to grips with trying to be careful with what she eats so not to give herself bad bowels. And she said today since she has started the cooking, and not my dad, the tummy pains and bad bowels have slowed right up! So I am clinging onto this being a good thing?

    She is popping...

    settling in

Depression is starting to rer its ugly head in a noticable way.  I find I'm quite detached from the family in general, despite being with them 24/7.  Everything irritates me.  I don't want to go anywhere or get anything done.  I'm eating like I don't know what.  I want to cry but I feel like I'm too numb/exasperated to cry.  More like I want to scream my lungs out, then go hide under a rock for the next millenia.  I hate to admit it, but sometimes I have the very real desire to bite...

  • An update from June.....
    My latest news..........
It seems a long time since I posted on here.....but looking back it was directly after I had a drain at the beginning of treatment no 6. Four sessions later and my count has not gone down, and yesterday I had another 5.5 litres drained! Meanwhile we have been away 3 times in the new motorhome and I had my trip to Buckingham palace with most of my granddaughters, the ( the youngest living in Los Angeles and only being a year old didn't really miss a lot.). But... America are coming at last and...

  • Mums Nuroendocrine Jouney!
    Results are in!

    Well.....

Mums primary site is in her Messetary and this has sadly metastesised into her Liver :( they cannot operate and take it out due to the location of the primary site, this seems to be pretty unaccesable, so that was a bit of a big blow to us.

The tumour does not seem to have grown in the past 3 months so we are hoping that this is a good sign?

It has been classed as a grade 2 tumour, so is moderatley slow growing, not as good as a grade 1 but I suppose we have to be thakful it wasnt a...

  • Lung and chest cancer – ask a clinical nurse specialist
    August 16th Blog

    Hi everyone,

    Thanks for your questions.

I hope the last blog was useful and helped answer some of your questions.

    Two questions today:

Dee82 – “Hi, my granda was diagnosed with stage 3 non small cell lung cancer 4 years ago, hes been amazing and is still on pretty low pain relief. He is now wasted away to nothing and is only eating once a day to keep my gran happy, although you can't comment on individual cases. How do we recognize the final stage? What should we expect? His docs...

  • Mums Nuroendocrine Jouney!
    Tomorrow it is!

Well, how ma I feeling pretty crap if I am honest, 2 months ago we were told the most devestaing news your mum is going to die, and it will pretty quick.

Then a month later we were told its not in fact metastic bowel cancer as originall thought but a NUROENDOCRINE cancer?! and its pretty rare and we cannot do anything locally?! and that is well defined and slow growing.

So we get sent on another emotional rollercoaster, what to think? what plans can we make? how long do we have all of these questions...

    Larry 1 Brooksie 1

    News report

In the latest round of the heavyweight  fight at the CT scan arena, the judges decided to award the round to Brooksie (yippee!). After a VERY long deliberation, as Larry from Shitesville (boo, hiss) had not spread his evil little tentacles anywhere else, the judges agreed that the score should now be even. Brooksie's management said "Ninewells staff really need to get their fingers out of their asses, to wait 8 days for a result is not acceptable - they obviously don't realise how much...

    honesty

had a frank discussion with Lou, my other half, last night and i don't think she appreciated my brutal honesty. she asked how i was and i suddenly opened up about how crap iwas feeling, how i hated what was happening, what is going to hapen. how everything is affecting me, her and our kids. she started to get a bit arsy with me because she didn't think i knew how it was hurting her and how she was feeling down about it as well. i understand how she's feeling but there is nothing anyone can do to stop...
