I have had requests to explain exactly what Northern Soul music is. Wikipedia gives an excellent definition so I won’t try to improve on that. All I can suggest is that if anyone really wants to understand that you try listening to some.
So how shall we find you some to listen to free of charge and legally? Well you can go to the BBC iPlayer and find John Kane’s Saturday evening show on Radio Leeds. Or you can look on the internet and find a list called The Northern Soul Top 500. You...
I wouldn't call myself a foodie, I'm no Nigella or Jamie, but I've always enjoyed cooking and eating. Food has not only been a sensual pleasure, it's been one of the things my social life revolved around - going out for meals, cooking for the family, inviting friends round or going for a drink after work.
Picnics, pasta and parmesan. Comforting Hungarian dishes my mother used to make - stuffed cabbage, chicken paprika, goulash laced with sour cream. It's hard to make the effort, of...
Had my first injection of Pentapeptyl yesterday and walked home afterwards. Felt energetic enough to do some hours of useful work in the garden.
Today a bit stiff in the back and hips but otherwise OK. I wonder how things will shape up in the future. Feeling cheerful and optimistic right now but I know moods can hit me. Due to stop the bicalutamide in two weeks' time.
Someone recently made a very apt remark about music reflecting emotions better than you can ever express them yourself. That sums up the power of lyrics so well. It instantly takes me back to a perfect example.
There was a relationship that probably shouldn’t have been started. But it was. One of those long carefree summers when you live for the moment and nothing else matters. You both knew it wouldn’t and couldn’t last, but there were no regrets when the inevitable parting came....
So next thursday is the op. Cant say im looking forward to it. I am so anxious. I am so scared.
I am hoping that its not going to be as bad as i think.... is that possible? i think im preparing myself for the worst so that im pleasantly surprised, maybe my pain threshold isnt as bad as i think...

Very good day today. Why? I just don't understand it.
Yesterday was bad. So tired in the afternoon that I lay on the bed and slept an hour or so. Pains in the neck and head came on after breakfast and stayed most of the day. Took the usual ibuprofen tabs with little effect. I felt low and depressed about the whole prospect with dire thoughts about future secondary spread and the chemo that I might have to take.
Today felt fine. Took one ibuprofen with breakfast as a precaution though neither...
Someone recently described music as being the soundtrack of their life. I like this expression very much. I inspect my collection and every piece in there is part of me. Reminders of people who have shaped my life and times I have spent in their company. Family, teachers, schoolmates, work colleagues. Friends old and new with whom I have shared happy times and lots of laughs. Of travelling companions who have explored the world with me. Reminders of hours spent on dancefloors and of concerts attended...
