Well it has been a pretty good month on the whole and overall if you take out all the yucky mucky icky bits and multiply the good stuff.
The break from the radio did its job of lulling the feeling of goodness into a false sense of security until 3 days before daughters imminent arrival from Canada. Her arrrival was a real boost for the spirit. His mum would make a whole chapter on it's own. And it's probably best that I brush over the saga. Grrrrrr.
Health wise my man has responded really really well to the chemo and radio. Last consult exam had the T3 as little more than a low ulcer (physical) which was barely visible on the scans. Op is still aiming to rejoin and follow the enhanced recovery program. Fingers crossed.
Consultant has said he'll be in for week to ten days. Pre-admissions said four to five. Have kept my manager type person in the loop as best I can. I did actually get around to asking about compassionate leave. Particularly when somebody told me that if I had a daughter expecting I could get a week off when baby arrives. Quizzical face. I asked for two weeks of whats left of my annual leave. They will give me one which will leave me five days for hiccups or the reversal of the ileostomy.
On another really plus side of the wobbly coin of life his work has given him a fair amount of recovery time full paid. 12 weeks. He'd only been in the job 6 months when diagnosed.
A completely side helping of news - lady in our admin dept got diagnosed in March (not sure which type but it had its trials) she's had treatment and op and saw her to wave to today and is due back at work in November.
Back to the thread, hubby booked in for thursday 10th, due out 4 to 10 days later. Good friend works 2 wards away so will visit out of hours.
Seems that DVT and not smoking coughing are biggest health scare concerns. We have been promised the socks and he is down to 3 cigs plus NRT.
So tuesday for the fresubiri, wednesday the picolax and silly o clock for the preload.
The statistics are on our side.
Will be back with the update when fingers have regrown.
