Cancer cancer cancer flashed in my mind like a neon sign in the local takeaway.  Why when everything is going well should I feel so bad?

In 2014 I had stage 4 penile cancer. I had four hours to contemplate the amputation of my penis before it actually happened. But think about it I did not, I just wanted to live. Despite the odds being less than favourable I am here today, having had a penectomy, node dissection, radiotherapy and chemotherapy so really I should be so empowered and full of...

    Call it luck!

Just over 7 years ago, I was doing the weekly shop in one of our local supermarkets when I thought let's buy some snacks. So after perusing the choices I settled for quite a large bag of dry roasted peanuts. Anyway that evening I was feeling peckish so opened the nuts, and of course I shamefully ate the whole bag.

Then at about 4 or 5 am the following morning I had the most excruciating pains in my stomach, so much so I was admitted to hospital. After a few hours the pain had subsided...

    The sun..

It's that time of year again were the Suns out, good news for everyone, everyone but me.

Three years after my lump was taken away, from my neck, and after  having 25 lots of radio therapy, when the suns comes out it leves my face burning, out comes the factor 50. At least it's not like lard which it did look like years go..
It's only May, and many months of sun to follow. Yes I do enjoy the sun  playing outside with my dogs, but my face fills like its on fire.
    I'm still trying...

  • Flying home to die
    flying home

I have flown out to Queensland to care for my Dad who has terminal cancer. I'm scared as I'm soon to be on my own as my sister who flew out earlier has to return home. My Dad is desperately wanting to fly home and with the way he is at the moment I believe he could fly. He's is very ill but doesn't have any respiratory problems but has an oedema and stomach cancer. He probably has a month or two at the latest before the end. I'm desperately worried about coping, when I know at home...

  • My journey
    Another week passes

Well I had my PET scan last Wednesday but due to the fact that the MDT team only meet on Thursday mornings means I won't be discussed until this coming Thursday.

I'm getting anxious about the results and the implications if my cancer has spread to the left side of my liver or elsewhere. The delays are weighing heavy. I'm certainly not getting enough sleep and feel that any delays will not help.

I'm not looking forward to my chemotherapy but just want to move forwards.

    On...

Gp said nothing sinister and then took 3 months to be removed!

I have decided to write this blog as I find this journey a lonely one. Most people don't want to talk about it or hear about it. I think maybe this helps my love ones handle it but there is so much waiting involved I'm finding it lonely . I hope to find others maybe going through the same thing to talk to.

It started when i noticed a growth on my stomach so booked in to see my Gp.  She said it was more than likely a wart and need it shaved off . It was nothing 'sinister' so off I went fine...

    Communication with friends and neighbours

My husband has Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. This was discovered late August 2015 so we have known for 8 months. After the initial (immense) shock and the round of telephone calls to tell family and friends, how do I deal with giving information about the day to day details of his health and treatment?

I made a pack with myself early on. Except for immediate family and one or two special people I would reply to questions asked with a very brief polite summary and try to end on a positive note...

    Day 36

Hi I'm Richard and i'm 32 from Swansea Wales.

Right now I am in the start of day 36.

I was admitted quite a while back, at first with a bad chest which then turned into pneunomia, which involved 3 weeks of having my chest drained of about 6 litres of liquid .

That was not fun having a pipe in the back of my chest 24/7 unable to sleep, or get an appitite. They did scan after scan and found nothing then they tried putting a camera down my chest and found and blockage ...

  • Happy with my results!
    Skin cancer free!!!

Hi all, well, this is my second attempt at writing a blog as the first one I lost! Or maybe it's on here somewhere??? Anyway, here goes.

Last summer I had a sore on my nose that just wouldn't heal properly so went to my GP about it. As I had been diagnosed with Rosacea about 6 years ago I just assumed it was that being stubborn! I was referred to a dermatologist and was first seen around November. 2015 An appointment was made for biopsies to be taken at the end of December. The results came back...
