It's been 10 days since my surgery. The dressings are off and the scars ate ugly. It looks like the front of my breast was chopped off with an axe. It is hard to look at my image in a mirror. It seems so drastic when I feel so well. I won't get my results for another few days on 20th December. Will I need more surgery? Did they get clear margins? Will I have chemo and/or radotherapy? All these questions going round my head. Should I go back to work while I am waiting for treatment to start...
Since the first time I saw my wife I knew.
She was going to be her husband friend and partner forever. We have been heart and soul in love for years. Until the past few months. I first I thought I had done or said something to put her off. She has/had been moody, and short with me. So I did what I thought I was suppose to do and did what I could to fix her issues with me.
Still she was not happy and in some cases down right cold. The just awhile ago always tried and started to put on the weight...
First round chemo started on Tuesday 12th Dec. Saline overnight and then the Cesplatin and Pemetrexed intravenously on the Wednesday. At first no real changes. Thursday afternoon the queasiness started. Suggested trying our cruise bands we use when the sea is rough. They seem to have done the trick. It's now day 3 and although there has been fatigue (but that was there before) the sickness has been kept at bay. So with the tabs and the bands he's doing quite well. Appetite is good I have...
Still no confirmed plan of action ie chemo or surgery. Trust me to be a complicated case, because primary cancer in my one and only kidney and 4 others in pancreas, they now need to speak with the dialysis team. They want to go in and attack all tumours in one go, as I saw my 3rd different doctor now I’m not feeling very confident, actually this was my 4th appointment not 3rd. It’s been a month since my 1st ultra Scan when first saw tumours, so nothing more to report except another waiting game....
I honestly will be glad to see the back of 2017, it’s been a terrible year, but I also have to say it could have been far worse.
Since January I have known I was battling something, I knew something was very wrong with me. I found I was always very tried and losing weight but also the fact that I was losing interest in things. Things I normally enjoyed. I had no idea that 6 months later I would have the lose of our horse
he was a proper cheeky boy and a sod at times but he did have some lovely...
Hi, I am new on this site
I have been through a rough year of neo-adjuvant chemo, a right side lumpectomy 46mm with residual island, re-excision, a dose of anxiety and 20 radiation, nearing the end of Herceptin, I thought now I'm done and nearly over the finish line, then would you believe it i get degenerative disc disease which I've got under control, then I ask what is the follow up procedure for my BC when will my first mammogram be? well you would think you would get a straight answer but...
My personal cancer journey started this summer shortly before my sixtieth birthday well away from the horrors of this disease with some very unpleasant and debilitating chest pains one morning when i woke up. To cut to the chase I ended up in A&E for the day having various tests which revealed nothing of significance thankfully. A few days later a call from my GP's surgery invited me to an appointment to discuss the results of my recent hospital admission at which i was told I had high blood pressure...
Well today has been a much better day, it really wouldn’t have taken much for that to happen though. Yesterday was one of those days that I don’t think I could take too many of without completely breaking down.
Last night I spent quite a while writing hubby a letter and I gave it to him this morning, it was a very long letter explaining how I felt, I put everything down in detail, I wrote it when I was very tired, I suppose I began writing it to get things off my mind, with no intention of giving...
This will be my last blog post. I don't fit anymore in the going through it phase. But I am not past it either. I am in the land of the 'living' again. I raced there, I rushed there - I couldn't bear to be in that desperate dark and frightening place that is grief, I ran from it, I fought it. Not sure how healthy or possible that is but that was my way of bearing it. And so I ran at lightening speed not to be there.
I look back on my posts at six weeks, seven weeks and I can see...
